Fav Nightclub?
I'm looking into what to do tomorrow night (my 19th b-day), and I've found a couple of nightclubs that look promising. I was wondering what the general opinion/rating you would give them. So far I am thinking of checking out: the mirage because there are $1.50 highballs, plaza, wild coyote, SIP Resto-Lounge, Overproof Lotus, plush, or Caprice Nightclub. Any thoughts about these? obviously this would be my first time going to any of these places, so I'm not really sure what to expect... if there are any better places, feel free to suggest away! :)

Plaza thursdays is Czech and Vinyl Richie
They do a mash up of funk, old school, breaks, and anything else that makes you move your fanny. It's a large nice club with drink specials, great sound, and visuals on grandvil street. So if you dont like it there its easy to walk across the street to Caprise, sky bar, and a bunch of other pubs/lounges a minute walk away. *special edit for carrie- thanx Last edited by Ree Fresh; Oct 26, 05 at 05:14 PM. |

although id rather cut off my own balls than frequent the caprice, or the tonic or even the mirage other than someones bday or a work gig, i say pick a place thats just OVER THE TOP. Im sorta of biased, i grew up with mars, the palladium, the sonar, the lotus and shine, but really its your 19th bday, so do it up in style! Your obviouslly going to get around to all the clubsyour interested, so dont plan such a HUGE, multi venue extravaganza, becuase they rarely work out, peep a few places depending on your taste in beats, get on the guest list early! and fuck what your friends are telling you - i mean obviouslly you want everyone to have fun and all, but its YOUR day, 19th bdays are big time (im not even going to hint at what mine was like!
the lotus never really disapoints, but like i said im biased, and truth be told i liked it when there were the two shitty couches, the pool table with the slant, and the broken lightbulbs! Shine used to hold down a really fun, unpretensious 80s/electro nite but ive heard around the grape vine, that its gone quite flat. as for the tonic and caprice, well someone else is gonna have to make that reccomendation. A few good pre-party spots to check out are: bin941, global, section3(if its still open?) the alibi room, goo(gastown), shambar, and fiction- keep er simple, its all about getting faced and dancing with older men! im kiddn - have an awesome bday wherever you end up, be sure to get a safe drive home, and please note 19th bdays arent the best night to try out a "new dealer" ya dig!? i wish i was turning 19 again , oh well, i gotta run, im off to my nightly bingo match!! |

Oh, and I was wondering... what exactly do you have to do to get on a guest list? and what benefits are there to being on one?? |

To those who think the only good ngihts are on weekends... you need to get out more. I seem to notice that alot of night clubs tend to try their hardest for weekday nights and try to make each night orignial and unique competing with the other clubs. Also the crowed it totaly different. You usualy get ppl who have to work the next day and are only out becuase of the acutal night... not just to get shittered and party cus its the weekend. Less idiots, less gold diggers, less fights, less creepy wankers etc. Last thrusday I poped intothe caprice for just a drink... turned out to be some mad ass RIO party that was packed and I stayed till the very end.

You can search all the clubs, what they offer, and any other special one offs deppending on what night you want to go out. Than look for the vip/guess list botton or email the promoter and ask. Just tell them your intrested in having your birthday at their club and how many ppl are coming. They should be able to put you and most of your friends on g-list... maybe even have some bonus's for you too ;) |

hey, uh, one more thing...if the dress code is "dress to impress" does that include not wearing skate shoes if you are a guy? Apparently my bf went to the mirage and plaza and got denied because of them... do you think this will be a problem on a thursday?
