Who is officially taking over Sonar?

I'm just curious... I noticed that Unconscious is throwing an event there on the 25th.

The only reason I ask is that Unconscious brings in trance shit usually (no offense, just not a fan of the trance) and for years Sonar has been the place top be for hiphop, breaks, DnB.... and now it's gonna be a bunch of shitty trance shows??? Please tell me that's not the way it'll go!!!

Anyone know any concrete info?

i don't get why people think thats a good idea, the club may sell out capacity but their liquor sales aren't going to do so well (which is where clubs make their money)

I beleive its Union who bought the club? Would that be 'Union' who does the one off trance shows?

Myra's right that trance shows dont sell enough booze. Although just becuase its say 'owned' by a company that usualy brings you trance may not mean thats the plan of buisness. They may let other promoters take control of say a fri/sat night and it could be anything from hip hop, breaks, dnb, house or the ever so great top 40's ?

The new owners are some Persian guys. One of them owns a string of clubs in Dubai. He is not here, he is in Dubai; so he has appointed another guy over here who has never run clubs before to run it.

Yes it will gradually become another top 40 club..

Sonar was sold to a pair of Persian fellows and they bought the liquor license as the building itself was not for sale.

Illy and Tom hit the nail on the head.

The sale has been known about for over a month now along the club circuit.

Taking over any venue outside of the granville strip and the out lying vicinity is dicey to say the best now a days.

My theory is the club will most likely be driven straight into the ground.

There is a reason sonar has been on the market for close to two years now with no buyers.
