Anyone watch the Passionate Eye? There was an episode on about a week ago called Frankensteer and it was about the treatment of cows in Canada. I would highly suggest watching it if you're interested to know what's in the meat you're eating. It doesn't talk too much about chickens, only stating that they're being treated pretty similarly. So KFC may be cruel to their chickens, but eating most other chicken is also about as bad. Maybe boycotting KFC will give you a peaceful conscience but will it really do much? Maybe you should focus on exactly WHO you are supporting, rather than just eliminating one option.

No you don't need to become vegetarian, but if you care, try to make a conscience decision in who you're giving your money to. You can buy free range, organic animal products and support local farmers. Not only is it better for your health, but eventually if people put their money towards these more ethical foods, then one day they could eventually become the norm, and therefore become cheaper.

(and i think KFC is disgusting anyways)

90% of American cows have Bovine Leukemia disease, which is usually

destroyed during pasteurization.

60% of canadian cows have BVD.

Pretty much anything we eat that was once an animal is sick.

Except fish, (Unfarmed of course.)

Clearly what we can eat is slowly becoming what we can't eat.

I stick to fish n' salads nowadays.

this may be the case but i don't think there are many schools, if any at all, in those poorer regions.

burberry is a brand that has immitations made probably in the same factories as the immitation LV's and other designer labels.

Yes you are right.

In my dreamworld the money made by these exploiting companies would turn from their profit into Schools and proper housing for these 3rd world masses as promised by the WTO.

I really have no sympathy for those who profit now and die later.

Sooner or later when you go into a footlocker or whatever, there will be ads showing the children being used to make this shit on the walls, tvs, cell phones even newspapers.

Animals are a resource. Honestly, there are too many human issues to worry about to spend time worrying about animals that are going to be killed for food anyway. Call me callous, but I really don't care. Whatever makes the end product better and cheaper.

Oh, and to add to some of the other replies, esoteric isn't saying to stop eating KFC because of NWO or conspiracy theory bullshit, its that they treat their chickens in a pretty cruel manner. From what I've seen, in some instances legs and wings are broken so that they're pretty incapable of moving around or beaks are completely sodered off. Basically, these animals are kind of denied their right to live a healthy life before they are slaughtered which is pretty wrong as far as I'm concerned (and not a conspiracy..)

It's not really that killing animals for meat is wrong, go do it all you want, it would just be pretty cool if they could live a regular enough life before its done. Everything has to die someday, wether its by slaughter or otherwise. Every living being on this planet kind of has the right to a healthy existence regardless of what they are raised for.

This was very refreshing to read Myra. Really, I didn't find one point I disagreed with. Well okay I can nitpick to death so I found 1 point. It's in the end, where you justify the claim as being a hippy post. It's all about the love and respect, there's really no need to feel like you need to validate this any further by taking a step back and proclaiming that any time you are being a humanitarian or ethical to identifying it as being something a hippy would do. Just remember the quote I think it was by Orwell, "In times of universal deciet, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act". Other than that, quite refreshing.
