Most of the time it isn't too bad as a lot of the larger Aircraft use Containers to hold the baggage. It's just those little fuckers like the B737s and A319s that are all freeloaded.
If your shit is classed as Cargo it's usually placed on a Pallet and loaded the easy way. The way I like it. If you take bigger planes, all your shit is stuffed in these: |

Yup, the good comes with the bad. From Cougars to Armoured Personnel Carriers to Radioactive things and Plastic Explosives. Working Cargo is kinda neat. Working Pakistan International Airlines is only good at the end when we get free 1.5Ls of Pop. The Luggage Cans tend to have ummm... a certain... 'aroma' that is displeasing while working with them.

depending how long i'm going for... but, generally 5-6 pairs of shoes, 5-10jackets, ditto for jeans, 10-15 shirts, my golf clubs and toiletries..
I go a little overboard... never know what spur of the moment activity will require what outfit. lol |

i usually take a little bit of stuff, like enuff to wear for a day or two, which is like 3 changes a day so 6 pants and six shirts. and i take enuff money for me to go shopping wherever i go. but i take my toiletries from home cuz they dont got the same stuff all over the world.

i like it when people pack hairdryers. they are the bulkyest things ever. and so pointless when the world is surrounded in moving air already. stuck in the 80's, i think so. and then if they're travelling overseas they bring along all their european adapters and it's just like, you need help.
i hate checking-in luggage, anything i travel with gets stowed under the seat infront of me or in the overhead compartments, plus then no waiting after the plane for my shit to arrive. |

I usually pack pretty light when I travel but for my first international snowboard trip I packed 2 snowboards in my wheelie bag, a full duffle bag, my snowboard boot bag (because I AM NOT losing my boots!) and my backpack.
Now imagine a 5'7" skinny ass asian guy carrying all this and you get the picture. US Customs thought I was a terrorist carrying rocket launchers and ammo in all those bags. :( I realized I didn't use 60% of the stuff I packed the first time around and almost lost my arm and back in the process of trying to carry everything. The second time around to Zermatt I learned my lesson and stuffed the wheelie bag with all my clothes, one snowboard and my boots and I carried my toiletries and small things in my backpack. Still heavy as fuck but at least I could move around the airport by myself. |

^ Listen to Winston!
heh for those of you that said "hah I'm packing tons to hurt the people"... hey, it's your shit not ours. If we can't lift it on the second try, our Boot usually fits it into place. Hope that bottle of Rum you're bringing back from Cuba wasn't in that bag! ;) |

Oh yeah, and day before yesterday we had to load a 165kg PINE BOX on to a 777 headed to Karachi. When I checked the Contents on the Packing List it said "The Late Mr. Durkadurkasherpa al mulhalladurkajihad"... Then I saw the sticker on the Box... "HUMAN REMAINS FRAGILE HANDLE WITH CARE". Damn... that was a fat dead guy. It's the grossest feeling when you lose grip on one side and feel and hear the body slide in the Box.

Aren't their weight restrictions? Every time i fly you have to keep your baggage under a certain weight. Or else you pay mad prices for oversized or whatever it is.But I always put all my heavy things into my smaller luggage bag. The large bag I just put clothes and stuff that is light.

The weight restrictions vary per airline. For example WestJet is 67kg for checked baggage I believe while Pakistan International is almost 75kg. Then take two checked Bags at about 50kg a piece, then times that by the amount of seats on a 737... which is around 80 or so... so that's 100kg x 80... in the end, if we get stuck with a shitty little 737 and a lot of people taking Kitchen Sinks back to Trinidad with them, it makes for a really shitty shift.
