I'm Computer Retarded

So, I recently got Age of Empires 3 from a friend of mine and started playing it. Game is sick, BUT it keeps on crashing on me. I have all the necessary requirements to run the game, but I believe my drivers are not up to date. I looked on google to see if I can find the proper drivers for myself and 1 hour later I am still scratching my head.

I'm running on a Radeon 9600 Pro Graphics card on Win XP and I can't find the proper driver update for the sake of my life...

HELP???

I guess I should have paid attention in Info-Tech 12 and not just played poker all class long :S

It may not just be limited to your GPU.

It might also be your CPU, RAM, and hard drive specs...if the buffers or bus speeds are low, this could be a culprit. Latest GPU drivers is priority...is this the only game it crashes with?

i know new games need stellar vid cards to even run properly, the recommended requirements are the Minimum of what you need to run the game with the lowest properties. If it crashes then your problem is RAM or CPU speed. most likely RAM. So either change the RAM or run the game at lower properties.

I dont think it would be overheating, because if it was overheating, the picture would just lag a lot. it wont crash.

Arctic Cooling ATI Radeon 9600 VGA Cooler

pick up one of these, ATI kinda skimped out when they made the cooling systems for the 9600 series.

Other Possible Solutions:
-If you're overclocking, try turning it back down to the normal clock speed
-Try pulling one of your sticks of RAM, if possible try a different stick of RAM
-If you've kept the same OS but have upgraded your video card at somepoint, go into Device Manager and uninstall ALL of your display adapters (go and get the most update drivers from ATI first) then restart and install the latest drivers.
-Disable your internet connection and see if that makes a difference
-Turn off Themes
-Email M$ your problem & your PC Specs
