The Da Vinci Code

This book is f*cking amazing! Has anyone else read it? The storyline is so interesting and draws you in through the entire book. The random facts in it are entertaining (I so want to verify them). I would say the author (Dan Brown) writes slightly similiar to Micheal Chriton in the fact that he can present an acedemic idea in an entertaining, highly interesting manner. I'm also about to read Angels & Demons, also by the same author, apparently it's even better...

Yeh i really anjoyed Angel and Demonds and i'm sure almost anyone on this board who reads, has read Da vinci code. I'm more looking forward to see what the movie is going to be like and how pissed off the religious-right in America is going to be.

Ya, I'm sure a lot of ppl have read it... but I know some who disliked it (not sure why, though?). The movie, I think, will suck. For exactly the same reason why Michael Chricton's movies suck - they take out all the interesting info, hollywood-ize it and it ruins it. Also, Robert Langdon is gonna be played by Tom Hanks! NOT who I was picturing when I read that book :(

It'a a good book, I had a hard time putting it down. People need to realize that the bok is fiction and most of the random facts are not true.

Dan Brown has written a couple other good books too. Angels and Deamons being one, also Deception Point and Digital Fortress

I would say that a lot of the info in it would be true... obviously not the main ideas - but the things such as how holding 2 fingers up behind someone's head in a pic was originated from the god of fertility, for example... I don't really see why he would make that shit up... maybe one of these I'll have to research it and see what I find...

I hope it's good, sometimes movies based on books just don't cut it. I think With Ron Howard directing it will br pretty good.

It was engaging enough, with good twists and turns, and puzzles, etc. But man oh man, was Brown's writing style ever questionable. The way he plays up the fact that someone is surprised about something "Sophie's JAW HIT THE FLOOR. "WHAT??!?!" she said.. "SUPERMAN IS BASED ON LEONARDO DA VINCI??!!! But *I* thought that.. etc etc etc"

I don't know, hard to explain what I'm talking about, maybe other people were annoyed by it too.

i'm just pissed they made tom hanks to play robert langdon. he is TOTALLY NOT how i pictured robert langdon at all!! they should have picked someone that had more meat on their bones with a less annoying voice. i preferred angels and demons over the 2 books, but yes...it is all fiction!

dave, just stop. if you ever question dan brown's writing style again, i will oppose you publically on an internet rave message board.

I agree about the Tom Hanks thing, I think that's a horrible choice! Like, in the book they are always saying how handsome Robert Langdon is supposed to be... and Tom Hanks is DEFINITELY not that... lol. Tom Hanks is a good actor, but you really need to type-cast the characters...

lol, i dont think ANYONE is saying that Tom Hanks is bad actor... He is an awesome actor, but when you cast a character you should be thinking about appearances, about what that actor is best at... and, personally, i just dont think he was the right one for this role... i guess we shall have to wait and see when the movie comes out, but that is still my opinion..

as for jurassic park being a micheal chricton film - ya it was good.. but if you have read the books there was SO much that was left out... and jurassic park just happens to be a good example... what about timeline!?? can ANYONE say that succeeded as a movie?! lol... it was dreadful, and the book was fairly good.. i know there are other examples, but i can't think of them right now....

they're always leaving things out of movies that were in a book. did you just learn that? and what makes you think that timeline succeeded as a book? i thought that it was pretty dumb, but then again, i don't really think that mikey is a very good writer.
