You DON'T _get_ them "done"!
You _make_ them grow! If you've got naturally straight hair, forget it! If you've got naturally curly hair, start twistin'! You _must_ have heard the expression "natty dread"? Natty=knotty You literally got to knot up your hair. After about 2-3 years of creating respectable dreads, once you want to get rid of them, you slice/cut them off. Simple as that. Unless you've got squat to do for the next week or so.... Frosty (grew up wit dem rasta) |

I made a short-lived attempt once... now that I hear what gnosis says, my hair was probably too straight because it wasn't working out right... you could pull it off cause you do have naturally curly hair .. I have seen some chicks that look damn hot with dreads as long as you take care of them well. A girl I went to school with had a niiice head full and they looked beautiful. I think as long as it's what you really want and you take the time to make them look really good you could definately rock 'em....but you will have to cut them out dude so consider that part too. :hair:

The girls who say you don't have to get them cut out neglect to mention the fact they hardly had them in for over a year in the first place, and it takes 1-2 bottles of conditioner and a few hours to get them out. Though they look very cool, they can cause redness/itchyness on the scalp as they get tighter and tighter over time, and can even start causing damage.
So: if you don't really care about your hair that much, then give'r...but if you do, I wouldn't recommend it. |

Another piece of advice - if you think that dreadlocks are going to be something that you don't need to take care of very often - it's not true... dreadlocks take TONS of time and work and effort to get them where you want them... and then keeping them looking proper. However, I personally think that dreadlocks can look SUPER hot on chicks (and guys) if done well... I've also haven't seen anyone able to take them out without cutting off their hair... it would take a long time, and you wouldn't have had the dreadlocks for very long... make sure, as well, that you get them done by a professional... or else you will probably regret it. anyways, good luck if you decide to do it :) I've always wanted to

gnosis:my hair is naturally very curly so that's not a problem. and the way you're descriping is the neglect method.
i was thinking of going for synthetic dred extentsions and braid them in or somthing like that to see if i like them first then if i did actual dreads i would do them myself and only leave them i na few months ebcause i honestly do not want short hair. ever. anyone know good places to buy colored synthetic hair? |
