1) if your approach and perception of tatooing is anything like your words about it, i think you need to talk to some more people and seriously think about things -every tatoo artist ive known or talked to, started off doing there friends, thats a common reality, but of that portion not a single person came on a public website and offered services *pending Pesonally i believe your getting ahead of yourself. This is not to say i dont think you have the skills or drive (honestly i have no idea) but to think youre going to get to a point of regular tatooing without being apprenticed in this day in age, in the greater vancouver area, and offer services to people(some of which you dont know) somewhat undermines the legitemecy, and responsibility of the entire tatoo artist community. You mentioned josh at next in another thread once(i think?), perhaps spending some more time with him and running some of your thoughts past em might be a good idea? Id also suggest talking to either Vinnie, Rick or Carrie at Fat City in new west (although im not sure if any of them are even still involved with that parlour?) or Justina @ Liquid Amber off W4th (604.738.3667) and Collingwood, in kits. Shes really awesome and down to earth, a great tatoo artist (although she is more meticulous, thus slower than the top artists in town) she and her girlfriend own the business and has an apprentice who is another young women, named maddox. Shes totally approachable, and really laid back and perhaps - from one women (in a predominantly male community, who started off doing friends tatoos a la ghetto tools) to another, it may prove to be a beneficial dialogue? Think about it. Do me a favour too, forget the flame job retort, because im being earnest. Yes anyone can do anything, if they put their mind to it, but its always beneficial to work with pros, and listen to their advice, early in your development as an artist. |
