This one I find is a lot more common:
1) n00b: Go to your first rave, discover the party world. LOTS of enthusiasm for all the little pieces of the culture. And you totally want to be EVERYBODY's friend.
2) Sophomore, a.k.a. "fucking ravers": After you've tried a few raves, and decided that they're kinda for you, you start hitting a party just about every single weekend. you start wearing brightly coloured plastic bracelets and hugging every person you meet. You have an exceptional enthusiasm to tell people how high you are. You wear ridiculous clothing and think all the older people at parties are too bitter and should really just stop partying.
3) Bitter/Jaded: After you've been partying steadily for a few months, the little things of the culture you once had such enthusiasm for and were so in love with really start to just piss you off. By the time you hit here, at least one or two new waves of (younger) ravers have hit the scene, and you've probably had your fair share of raver-dramas that have convinced you that ravers are all sketchy fucktards you want nothing to do with. You're the one who gave the sophomores the name "Fucking ravers". The bright plastic beaded bracelets make way for darker wooden ones. At least at one point in time, you steal a glowstick, break it open, and chuck it into the crowd. Just because you're sick of seeing them.
4) Raver in Exile: Finally, you say "FUCK IT!" and give up on parties. You start priding yourself on hanging out with non-ravers and stop listening to dance music in your spare time. You visit goth clubs and go to rock shows and try your darnedest to occupy your brain with something other than a party. For some, this is a productive time, for others, exactly the opposite.
5) Born-Again Raver: After about 2 years where you've been to a total of 3 raves, you go to a rave on a whim and discover that you actually have a REALLY good time. You realize that it's really just a freaking party and there's no real reason to get all meefed off at the scene: It will always be there and the drama and suckage will too. But ultimately, it's JUST A PARTY. No reason to bring all the scene drama meef along with you. From here on in, partying kind of comes and goes, but it tends not to be an exceptionally central part of your life like it used to in the earlier stages, nor is your life a direct retalliation against partying, like in the last phase.
As far as I've seen, this is mostly the last stage people hit. Then it's just a matter of waxing and waning as to how much partying you do. Sometimes you go harder, sometimes you go lighter.
I miss anything?
