I read something in the paper about a month ago that they want the Act to expand to also include telephone and internet logs. OH FUN. So if I was surfing this website I guess I should turn myself in. :035:
But along the lines of the Patriot Act...wasn't it rather convenient that Maximus (a US company) got the bid to manage BC's MSP? I wouldn't be surprised if the US has most of our personal information already...they've missed their BC government set targets 7 times and have been fined each time because they can't process the adequate amount of MSP documents and can't answer the phonecalls in a certain length of time. What's also rather funny is that they are laying off a bunch of staff in the new year and state "we will still be able to meet and exceed targets at that time". The Act itself is draconian...it violates any kind of freedom we have to our personal information. But I guess that's the change of the times... editz: they're probably sifting and recording all of our records for the personal info, hence late processing of documents. cockfags. Technix they already can buddy,
Section 215 allows all library, medical, financial, etc etc records to be searched without cause or anyone knowing. Section 216 erodes the definition of the FISA act which authorized warrentless searching. Before they needed to have the cause of gathering foreign intelligence to tap your phone lines etc etc. Now they just need to tell a judge its for terrorism and receive the go ahead. The judge does not have the power to refuse the application, so basically it's not really "obtaining" a court order because they do NOT have to give probable cause. |

I am not an American, nor do I have any desire to see our country follow in their footsteps. Argue all you want about the Libs. and their "corruption", but I personally see that as a lesser evil to everything that the Cons. would do to us, hand-in-glove with Bush and his compatriots. |
