This is a long shot, but......

I'm thinking about starting my own self-help group.

Does anyone have access to any resources that might help me figure out how to get it off the ground?

Like I said, this is a long shot, but i'm posting this on other vancouver young ppl boards and thought i'd post it here too.

PM me any info/suggestions.

mugsy is on a distinguished road
would you be wanting a small business license?
if so i know BC has a website that helps you out step by step in starting out, but from past posts i've seen, i thought you were living in oregon.
either way, i find it resourceful.

fable is an unknown quantity at this point
What are some of the objectives of the group?

What are the possible parameters for the group?

What is the experience involved in the group?

The answers to these questions will probably dictate what resources would be available to you.

Can i join up? If you need any help with anything im available. Groups to support a grassroots mental health community in vancouver are somewhat lacking mainly because of an absence of experienced and qualified people to initiate such groups. This city would definetly benefit from them!

There is a strong dual diagnosis program in Vancouver(addictions+mental health) that i was a client of for some time, but the main program is very intensive in regards to time. There is also a dual diagnosis anonymous that is somewhat small, but ive been told the the meetings at the Gathering Place off Seymour and Helmken are pretty strong, but ive never been to that meeting.

These meetings and programs might be a good start for you to explore and research. It might also help to check out a few Vancouver Coastal Mental Health Centres as well. There is one on robson, closer to denman, theres one on 12th off kinsway, and theres one on Victoria between 10th and 11th.

Good luck!
Hit me up if yeah need anything :)

i have a specific illness in mind
i think it would be better to narrow it down so the group could talk about issues pertaining to the specific illness
