finding the perfect gift.
so my parents have more then enough things that i have made for them or that my brother has made for them. theres nothing they want, and they actually have been known to get upset when money is spent on them.
so i had this great idea to get them a spa day together - my dad could use it to refresh after his last chemo session\prepare for the next 6 months, and my mom could use the rest. recently, i've been really sick, and unfortunately that has taken $500 for me to be healthy enough to stand up straight. so the idea was smashed. i was going to make a book about them (recently i've been doing this for friends) and as i went through their wedding album i realized that they have never had any of their wedding photos out before. so i went and got a beautiful frame and got one of their wedding photos re-done. then the other day my mom gave me a small peice of drift wood she picked up on the beach on their first vacation together when they were dating because recently i've been making jewelery outta objects like it. she told me to make myself a necklace, and i would have a story for it. instead, im making her a necklace with a small painting of two birds on it. at can-tire theres this figurine of a little girl pulling her dad along the side walkwhile pointing ahead intitlied "daddy look" or something like that - totally encaptures christmas' from the past with my dad and me. im so excited to give them these gifts. i really wanted to make a donation in my dads name to the colon cancer society, but my mom said i wasnt allowed to as she didnt want tears on christmas, so im taking the money i've been storing for that and just going to keep adding until the "past expiration" party we're having for him in a few months. and i made my brother a ferdinand the bull shirt. im so excited. |
