#1 - Stop taking stupid penalties
#2 - I think we need more team effort and to play a 60 minute game #3 - Our guys really need to start shooting the puck more. On our #1 PP unit it seems that we always have to get nassy the puck on the half boards even when our D has it they dot want to shoot and just want to get it back to nassy. Same goes for our #2 PP unit. It seems one of the sedins always has to have the puck and were gonna try the slap pass or something. Just shoot the damn puck and throw it on net. |

sall good... this is just a test that happens to all good teams...
if canucks want it that bad... they will try hard no matter how many losses in a row... bad shit happens to good teams... thats the way i see it... but the boys are still workin hard in my opinion |

shit happens.
i think it was a pathetic 3rd period last night against calgary. 3 shots! there has been some bogus calls, but then that gets back to us having a shitty penalty kill. i think we have a really bad habit of giving the puck away.... usually right in front of the net or just to someone who creates a 2 on 1. cant blame everything on Auld. i think Jovo gives the puck away and makes a lot of mistakes. also we had a 4 minute power play and we were still out played. not sure what was going on there. they had the time to play all the lines. |

1 - PP is way too fancy. - This PP should be way up there - two lines who are equally dangerous.
2 - Canucks don't "work" hard enough - they don't do the small things well. IE: When they play grinder type teams - the canucks will not do well but when it's a skill vs skill game - the canucks always thrive - their game against the sens and wings sticks out. Teams like Edmonton and Calgary who work hard all game alway come out on top. 3 - Naslund needs to rest up - His groin injury is becoming more and more aparent. 4 - Goaltending - I'll leave it up to you guys to debate this. 5 - 3rd and 4th Lines - Besides Rutuu - there is no one else that stands out - Cooke can't do anything with that mask on. 6 - Nonis needs to make a trade - With the amount that Jovo makes - You can easily use that money to pick up another good D man and possibly a number 1 goalie. 7 - Have their mascot Finn attach a big toungue and whip the other coaches with it. - By the way - next time I see that mascot - he is dead. 8 - Where's Morrison? - Sub Par season and he knows it. Not sure what he can do to pick it up though. 9 - Crawford needs to stop making dumb decisions - Starting Maxime Oulette in a divisional matchup against the Oilers? Good Job! A goalie who has started less then 20 matches during his career in the NHL. 10 - 5 on 5 Play is horrendous - The Canucks are lucky to be where they are at. They have not played very well all season and depended on the PP too much at the beginning. What do you guys think? You agree or not? 5 wins in 18 divisional games - 3 against the wild - 2 against the avs and none against the flames and oilers.... YIKES! I'm not even a Canuck fan and this is my observations Last edited by Anjew; Dec 27, 05 at 08:15 PM. |

i think they need to get an experienced goalie, not cuz Auld is no good, but were fucked if something happens to Auld and he cant play. so why not trade a D and whoever else for a top notch goalie. i heard that today they switched Rutuu to the first line with bertuzzi playing center. and they bumped Morrison down to play with Cooke and Linden. so we'll see if that does anything tomorrow night. |

Maximize on the power plays... they always blow them even when they are four minutes long!!! Seriously, it's pathetic. They just need an altogether regrouping...
SHOOOT! Seriously, they play with the puck way too much, just nail it in the net once in a while PLEASE! |

Your telling me we get a 4 minute powerplay and we don't generate a goal is the refs fault. The reffing is horrible all around the league, not to mention in the first game against calgary last week we had a 4 on 3 powerplay in overtime.
a 4 on 3 powerplay is like winning the lottery you gotta cash that shit right away. Our powerplay sucks cause were too fancy especially Naslund and the top line. To go along with your grinders point Anjew. We really are losing the battles on the boards. Example last nights game against calgary. Their on the powerplay we send 3 players to check the point man cause the puck is just inside the blueline. We lose the battle, puck goes to Regrh and he scores the winning goal. 3 players in the corner and we couldn't get the puck outside the blueline. Crawford really better work on some new systems. The canucks defensively are far worse than the last season. Naslund -1 last season he ended the season like +24 or something |

Hmm Our penalty killing is pretty bad right now too, especially that goal by Huselius. Common he should not be able to skate in like that off the rush. We should have been able to force them to dump the puck into the corner.
Goaltending I say we get a solid #1 and have Alex Auld is a backup. As a backup he is Great but as a starter he is showing wear and tear already and he's not consistent though last game he was good. |

The refing is shitty, but that doesn't explain the bloody lack of shooting on the powerplays, I agree that they need work... seriously, and Auld, he's a good goalie, but he's getting cold feet.... still think he beats Cloutier any day though...

Our powerplay is weak cause we lose the corner battles and lose alot of powerplay time doing it. Also our point shots are getting blocked way too easily, perfect stat Sami Salo was averaging 6 shots on goal before now i think he may have got 6 total in the last like 6 games or more, another example allen shooting it right to the opponent knee's. Shoot around the player if you have to.
Basically it comes to down to decision making, and hardwork and were losing both those battles especially in the third. |
|
|||
Another note is notice how we used to be dominant in the third cause we would always surrender a goal in the first period or a couple in the second but our third used to be our strongest period. Especially when we won 6 games in a row.
As our third period goes, so does our winning ways. |

I must say a big hand goes to Auld today... he kept his cool throughout that blasted last minute powerplay and it could have gone horribly wrong. I was impressed, terrified and yelling at my TV all at the same time, all the while in the moment with all the intense plays. Good job to the Canucks, nice way to get out of the slump and ahead of the Oilers and Flames... anyone else's thoughts on the game?
