Xylocaine and other anesthetics? Cheating or not? Boxing related
Wasn't sure if I should put this in the drugs section or here in the coaches corner as it is more sports related.
but my question is how does Xylocaine exactly work. Its a numing agent as far as my knowledge goes like an anesthetic right?> So do you think that a boxer with a little bit of a sore hand getting injected with one shot of Xylocaine is cheating in a fight with his opponent who has normal hands. To my knowledge their wouldn't be an advantage, all it would do is allow the fighter with the little sore hand to have his hands at a normal level. Same strength. Would make the fight even in my opinion, of coarse the arguement can be made that the opponent with the good hands would have had an advantage over lets say fighter A. My stance is fighter A has bad hands. Fighter B has normal hands. Hence fighter B has an advantage over fighter A. Stance 2: Fighter A takes Xylocaine and numbs the little part of his hand that is bothering him so he can punch at a normal level. Fighter B still has normal hands. Fighter A can now fight on a more normal level than fighter B. Also is it true with Xylocaine. Since that part of the hand would be numbed you wouldn't be able to make a proper fist if more shots of Xylocaine were added because you would lose control of your hand musles. Where is Joanne or a pharmacist when you need one haha. Common people help me out this is a dicussion on another thread too on a boxing forum. Note the opponent can use the same Xylocaine if his hands are sore as its allowed by the Nevada State Athletic Commision |
