ummm last time i check i duno if they still have it on, but champs is having a buy one get 50% of another so if u can find someone else who wants to buy shoes then u can do that,

or sport mart (in metro near toys r us) is having a closing out sale so id recommend going there and trying that out :)

as far as actual runners for running are concerned I'd say go with New Balances.

you won't find a better fitting shoe.

Don't listen to any of these people... EVERY FOOT IS DIFFERENT.

What you want to do is go to an actual running store. Go to The Running Room or The Runner's Den or something. An experienced sales person of running shoes will be able to help you figure out the best shoe for you. Certain brands tend to fit different than others but also different shoes have different types of support for different feet.

A good running shoe store will also take back the shoes if they don't work for you. I tried 3 different pairs of shoes before I settled on my pair. I kept the shoes for a week and ran with them. If after that week they didn't feel just right I'd go back and they'd help me figure out another shoe. Ultimately I settled on a pair of Saucony's and they've been great.... FOR ME.

If you're serious about running you need to get the right shoe... it makes a world of difference.

im leaning more towards cross trainers or something like that becuase i want support for training in the gym and stuff as well. i plan to do like you^ mentioned and spend a bit of time in a shop and see what works.

he's right go to the running room. these people are experts, and will find the right shoe for your foot by figuring out your running style and foot size. don't go into the store set on a perticular name brand, just tell him your price range and they'll help you figure it out.
