cooking is a fucking awesome art...... i love just taking random things mixing them and sometimes they work wonders, other times u never wana mix those things every again.......

best thing to cook with is oranges for me, the peels shaved make for good sauces, the actual orange helps add flavor and moisture to food.......

man cooking is great straight up~! something u never can get bored with!

over the last two years ive really grown my recipe list.

once you get the hang of it, even the really hard *sounding* recipes are really simple. thats the idea i think.

being able to cook well is right up there with some of the most important skills imo.

i am a fucking kick ass cook... i'm too slow to ever do it professionally, but the results never dissappoint. And man, if there's a better way to impress a lady, i haven't found it....

I've been boning up on my Thai cooking skills recently... i took a course last year in Chiang Mai, kinda let it slide but i went to T&T market a couple weeks ago & stocked up on all the staple ingredients. I made a green coconut cream curry last week that i'm pretty sure is the best thing i've ever cooked. damn!

We cook a lot at home, usually just typical meals but atleast once a week my fiance and I try to cook something we have never made before. Sometimes we take turns cooking for eachother and sometimes we cook together. The last time I cooked for him I made a really tastey Bolivian dish my friend taught me how to make. This was the first time attempting it on my own and I was surprised at how accurate and well it turned out considering I had to use my memory for ingredients and everything.

OMG... coconut curry or Thai curry in general is the best curry out there... although the green curry is often way too spicy for me, I like the mild yellow curry better!

I especially like chicken satays (they are skewers of chicken that you dip in peanut sauce) to die for!

T&T is awesome. I do all my grocery shopping there.
They only thing they don't have that I need is cat food. =/

My problem with cooking is that i'm so used to eating spicy foods, that I don't take others into consideration when i'm cooking something. I have to use thai chillies in almost everything i cook. Last week, I got to T&T too close to closing and the were out of thai chillies, so I've been cooking with much milder serano peppers this week. =P

My boyfriend is an awesome cook as well. He's really into making east indian dishes like veggie and beef vindaloos and indian style curries.

My other roommate dated an asian chef for about three years and learned a lot cooking from her, so he can make just about any asian dish.

I couldn't live without the following ingredients in my life:
garlic!!!
ginger (i buy it already pureed in jars from T&T)
thai chillies (if i had it my way it would be habaneros. i love them. my mom keeps them frozen and grates them onto anything she's cooking)
onions
garlic!!! You can get it pre-peeled at a lot of stores so all you have to do it pop them in a garlic press when you get home

Wow, you do like your food spicy, what's your ethnicity or what does your mom cook that makes you cook your food so spicy haha? I love Thai food though, but milder is better for me, I actually like to taste the food. Chinese is awesome as well

Dinner last nite was:

steamed white potato
steamed Bok Choy (several varieties of this veg for sale)
piece of chicken on the mini George Forman type grill
soy sauce
green tea

mmm it was simple but good. Gonna check out more undiscovered veggies.
Previous nite: same but with grilled beef.

This type of thing is very fast & easy to make. Steaming is good - no fat, no grease spatters, easy cleanup. You can do it all in one steamer pot, just wait a while before putting in the stuff that needs the least cooking.
