Vancouver Central (almost) all-candidates debate

Last night (Sat), there was a debate for the candidates of Vancouver Central hosted by the Christ Church Cathedral (Burrard and Georgia).

I never even _heard_ about it, so thanks goes to me mate who told me about it.

So glad I went, because I really didn't know who was running.

There are 5 candidates running.

However, my bud and I were busting a gut when the Christian Heritage Party candidate was informed he may speak from the floor during question period (like any other person in attendance), but was not an invited participant.

To put it bluntly, Tony Fogarassy (Conservative) got _OWNED_!!!!
The daft sod has been studying too many tapes of Bush Jr!
The crowd were outright laughing at his outlandish, misguided and pat answers to the questions put forth.

Jared Evans, of the Green party is, well, green. He's a nooby. All heart, but no experience, and seemed a li'l over his head, although, with good intentions.

Sitting next to him was Hedy Fry. The Shark. The girl is good. Really! I mean it! As much as I don't like her party, she's been doing _lots_ of good stuff for Vancouver Central for years. Experienced, well spoken, and up on _everything_, she clearly stood out as the leader of the pack.

Then, there's Svend Robinson. Champion of the underdog. He's done some commendable work in the past, and kudos to him. However, when some more pressing issues were discussed, he seemed to fall into some comfortable rhetoric.

Even though the leaders of the parties are having a full-on mud-fest, things were relatively tame, last night.
But, DAMN! There were some good barbs thrown amongst them! Made for good laughs for me and me mate!

READ, people!

Find out who's talking about what.

Make up your own mind.

And get yer ass out and VOTE, dammit!

Frosty
(If ya don't vote, ya can't bitch!)

Yeh i enjoyed the clip of the Christian Heritage candidate speaking and everyone booing him haha. The conservative candidate said he would vote for gay marriage in a free vote. Looks like Hedy Fry is in the lead. Svend's rating went down after his performance last night.

As much as I don't really like the NDP, their party has two candidates in the lower mainland that should be in parlaiment- libby davies (I used to work for her office!) and Svend Robinson.

I really couldn't imagine the government without svend's voice there, and it's really a shame that for some reason, they picked this riding for him to run in. Sure, a lot of people would love to vote for him, but the problem is Hedy Fry is out there and she HAS done some excellent things for the community, she's out at every event and I think that the people in Vancouver Centre are far too happy with her to see her go..

i dont like my new district because no matter who i vote for, libby davies will still get elected, hence i have no net effect in who forms the federal minority

either way im 99% throwing my vote away, but should i feel guilty for

a) not furthering the liberal base (in a riding i might not live in next election)
b) not voting for the party i want to run the country
