Those guys rule. I found plans on the interweb for this 802.11g Wireless Signal booster. So I cobbled it together.

Parts list:

1 steel bottom of broken CDROM
1" piece of copper heatpipe
3' scrap of Cable TV Coax
1 pigtail connector from my wireless card

20minutes and some solder later I have a handy little super powerful omni directional antenna. I used to only get connections to 2 networks, now I can see 10! And all thanks to a bored geek with some microwave signal knowledge. rock on.
