I saw some harbour kids do a preformance at Douglas College a couple years ago... Had all kinds of dance... moderne ballet, hoofing, tap and of course some raaaad hiphop. Might be worth checking into them. I also know there was a dance company... Confidance? In Coq that my ex used to go to... poke around, look em up in your yellow pages/telus pages... whatever they are called now. And just start calling and inquiring. I went to Guilford School of Music and Dance... Was for hiphop, they didnt really have funkstyles though, but depending on the school you go to and the teachers, you can always do private lessons, which is what me and my gf did... we liked it better than the regular classes. We stopped going there bc our fave teacher left... now I need to get stalker styles and find her. Good luck hun!

Yeah no kidding. thats why I suggest looking into Confidance or something like them out your way... And if you wanna work extra hard and have a few extra dollars to put into it, try and find a teacher that takes on students for private classes. Its totally worth it IMO. You get one-to-one attn and can work on whatever you want. But condisering your looking into group classes and group preformances, that might not be for you... Maybe even as a rec ctr around you what they have in the neighbourhood, if you dont have much luck with the phone book. Also, you can always ask to sit in or audit a class for a day... check it out bfore you put your money out... meet the teachers and make sure its right for you. no sense butting heads or getting into something you hate...

If I remember correctly, the Harbour Dance website has links to local dance companies. I know there are a few in Van and even in Surrey because a former teacher at Harbour used to teach in a Surrey dance place.
