depending on how serious you are with your production, a G4 1.67 ghz powerbook should be enough - just add a gig or 2 of ram ($500 for two 1-gig chips) and get a decent external soundcard and it should be enough for most production suites |

Decent price, and lots of power?
its called a PC that's not online. Seriously.... the internet is the sole reason why Windows is as flaky as it is. If you never show it the light of the internet, it'll be just as solid as any Mac. Not to mention way less gay looking. |

this sounds like someone who spends too much money on drugs Macs are 20X better than PC's for audio production/editing and for video editing. There's a reason that you'll never find an Avid machine made from a PC. Sure, you can run an avid emulator.. but its like pro tools. You need the hardware. |

So does that mean he is suppose to buy a windows machine and never get on the net with it?
The thing I like about OS X is that it is actually built with audio in mind. http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/coreaudio/ It also has its own midi / audio hardware set up preference, so you can configure everything globally. That and it has logic , not that I'm any good at using it. Quote:
