a question to vancouver ravers!

Hey everybody!

I got a small question,

Is there a local scene based in vancouver for Brake-Core/Hard-Core/IDM/Techno kind of music? and im not talking about clubs, more about squat parties/raves and stuff like this, is there some kind of group that arrange this kind of parties here?

And how the local police will react in squat parties situation, will they shut it down immidetlly? is that the reasons why there're no Squat parties here?
or maybe there is but its all hush-hush secret thing...

Are there any Teknival in Vancouver? like these ---> http://ext1.autistici.org/shockraver/infoparty.htm

thanks allot,

sublow

Wow these parties seem like hardcore/scetchy underground techno parties. I don't think we have these in Vancouver.

well..., a squat party is when a group of people take over an old, un-used goverment building/floor/basement etc..., and arrange a party/rave there with minimal equipment - sound system, flicker, cheap booze etc... . its pretty popular in europe...

Hey welcome...

Ya vancouver does have an underground IDM/Breakcore/Experimental scene
Recently Skeeter was in town ... vancouver.breakcore.net for the flyer....
There are alot of artists as well around here...... Show's are normally done in art type rooms of course... classic area is blim... you can check it out at blim.ca

As per mainstream hardcore.... well.... Not as popular in vancouver... but again there are some hardcore dj's lingering around....

What styles of hardcore are you looking for? I used to spin Freeform, Hardstyle House, and some OldSchool 'Rave', just for fun! lol. Still have a bit of it laying around but not to much anymore!

Heh man so many things in common.... Also "DJ Firewire" who also posts on this board is a hardcore freak...

Known mainly for spinning freeform.... he also spins all other variences of hardcore.... gabber/makina/hhc/speedcore... you name it... he can also spin other genre's.... very talented...

We went to a Tigerbeat 6 show a in Sept I believe... Had Kid606, Knifehandchop, EatsTapes.... fuck what a show...
Also hit up the Laptop Competition which consisted of some awesome IDM/experimental producers.... For both those shows you couldn't go wrong for 6 dollars each...

Your probably wondering what I like???
Well I'll give you a small list..

Hardcore:
Nosferatu
Pavo
Luna
DJ Ogalla
Rotterdam Terror Corps
Dione

Breakcore/IDM:
Belladonnakillz
Enduser
Venetian Snares
Doormouse
Shitmat...

Those are just some of them

What I'll try and do now is find some of the artists around vancouver and post there website so you have an idea of there content...
