some images = critiques wanted.
so the first is an image i did last year - its 4 foot by 4 foot all done with a regular hp pencil. i love it. was thinking of maybe putting some massive text in the back - almost so large you cant figure out which letter it is, but you know that its text. im also thinking of making a couple more, maybe a triptic all in the same sort of graphic nature\idea.
the second is a painting im doin up right now. been going through a whole nineteenth century thing. right now its just the base, am probably gonna throw some ink around on it, maybe work in some glosses. Last edited by mugsy; Feb 27, 06 at 09:38 PM. |

i agree that the pencil one is amazing........but i too know a lot of people good with shading and such. i think the text idea would seal the originality deal. def fill the void and add whatever touch you like with a word or letter.
and the other pic is much more original.......the colours work really well and i kinda like the lack of sharpness and harsh contrast. |

yeah, pencil, charcoal and conte are coming back into the scene witha vengence, and i dig it. one of the other images i want to put with it is an old fasioned mic and stand.
i think i might reproduce it in ink as well, a heck of alot smaller but one some cardboard so i can figure out what i like with the image. maybe make a stencil of it. thanks ya'll. |

I actually like the second one a lot more. It's lighthearted but still seems to insinuate something deeper, maybe darker? And the way the colours run and blend together but remain distinct. I dunno.. I'm no critique, but I'd want that painting on my wall.

^the one just above was (not counting time for paint to dry inbetween layers) 25 minutes.
the other painting at its current place that it is now about 30 minutes, but i still have a lot to do on it. the pencil drawing was about 72 hours + of work. i stopped counting after 72. |

could, but nobody buys my stuff. i am going to push myself out more in the summer, going to join some local art groups so i get in on some shows, but strangley, although im painting after very famouis beautiful nudes alot of local places\people are saying that my paintings are not suitable.
its harder then shittin nails to get a show in vancouver, so thats why im stickin around applying where i live, just have to adapt my genre a bit for the time being, and i havent done it yet. i've showed work at some places, it just never gets baught. actually, i have sold alot for an artist my age\genre, but not enough. and lately theres no intrest. |

That is so fucked up!!! I have almost the same recorder from the first pic, the Sony M-560V. With it, I've interviewed Blanche (who were really nice, genuine people) and Goldfrapp (who was a useless bitch). Naturally, I like that one more. It's way dope.
