It is pretty big... Fresh shat the bed on this one for sure... That's twice in his career. 1) Breaking up Bad Company & 2)well you know #2....
I've been anxious to hear what Pendulum can do under their own label...hopefully they stray far away from what the've down with BBK, that's not to say that they haven't written some wicken tunes for them. |

^^
I second that. I don't know a lot about the history of Pendulum, since I'm more inclined to artists like Noisia, Evol Intent, and Black Sun Empire, but as a musician I throw mad props to any artist/musician that stands up for their rights when a label oversteps their boundaries. It may be legal, as I understand it, since Pendulum gave a copy of the mix to a record exec (am I understanding this right?) but fuck that! You shouldn't have to worry about your record label jeopardizing your music/image/integrity like that. An artist/group releases music at a time they deem fit for their career, not the other way around. Leave that to the bubblegum princesses of the pop world. |

so basically this is just a reissue of the first "junglesound" compilation that came out back in october of 2004,
http://www.tesco.com/entertainment/p....aspx?R=599801 ....with the exact same mix as far as i can tell. which means that pendulum (it's actually el hornet on the mix for this one, surprise, surprise) agreed to releasing this 2 years ago. so what they're disagreeing with is the repackaging and remarketing of a product that they must have agreed to in the first place. in other words it's a pretty dated mix that no longer really fits with their style. that, and the original didn't include any unmixed tracks, so they are rightly pissed off about masochist vip being on there if they don't feel it's up to their standards and didn't want the unmixed version floating around for cdj djs to play in their sets.....however, since it's in the mixed version and fresh presumably has already licensed all of the tracks the first time around that means he did pay to use it. but really, it's just a marketing move on fresh's part. the original cd didn't have anything to say about being mixed by pendulum on the cover at all, so he must have realized that slapping a "mixed by pendulum" tag on the front would do wonders for sales now that their the hottest shit in drum and bass. since he's already paid for licensing every tune on there he gets to sell the same cd twice, while only paying for it once :o kind of dodgy, as it's not really saying anything about being a reissue of a cd that came out a year and a half ago. |
