^ thought you'd never ask!
http://www.divacup.com/ Back in the 1930's the innovative menstrual cup was invented as a form of internal feminine protection. The DivaCup™ is a modern version of this proven concept that has been redesigned with the latest technology in moulding and materials. The DivaCup™ is approved by the FDA (USA), and holds a current Health Canada medical device license. It is made of soft medical grade silicone, which is latex-free, 100% hypoallergenic and odorless. For over 50 years, silicone has been safely and extensively used in products for the health care industry. Since The DivaCup™ is reusable, it is very economical. As well, you can feel confident that you are doing your part in environmental conservation. Landfill and pollution problems are on the rise and continue to be a worldwide concern. In 1998, 7 billion tampons and 13 billion sanitary pads and their packaging made their way into landfills and sewage systems in the USA alone! they're supposed to replace tampons but products like this have been on the market for more than thirty years now and still haven't caught on, so i don't think very many women like the idea of them joanne: i've wanted to try it for a while now too, but it seems too messy to be practical. let me know how it works out if you do decide to try it out. |

I've been thinking about the Diva cup as of late too, in my college newspaper a bunch of girls tried out both the keeper and Diva cup and there was a mixed review. I think you have to try it for yourself to decide whether it's too weird, or just fine. Instead of having to order online, I think some health food stores and vitamin shops are now carrying them though!

Personally, it seems to me that they would be highly inconvenient to use especially if you were out for the evening and needed to make a quick change. |

Reading about the instead cup, the benefit it boasts the most is the ability to have clean sex during your menstrual cycle.
It hooks in back beneath the pelvic bone, I'd be worried about not being able to get it out, and they're not reusable so that landfill fillup continues in their case. I'm skeptical. |

Ok, first of all, Instead is freaky, not recommended.
The Diva Cup, on the other hand: sure, you wouldn't be throwing pads into landfills, that's great - but I doubt that's why most ladies would choose to use them. Rather, think about simple economics - and then you might have a better idea. They sell for about $50 a pop - and last a damn long time. I think about 20 years or so. The Diva Cup can be worn on both the lightest and heaviest flow. It can be left in for quite a long time - with a bit of planning, there would be no need to empty it out while in a nightclub situation. RE: pads & tampons. Some folks say both of these a very bad for you. Tampons, which have been bleached, lodge fibres into your vag tissue... and the argument for pads being bad for you seems kind of weak, but it doesn't really matter anyways because pads are just plain nasty, negative health effects or no. If anyone is curious, this is a good place to see what it's all about: http://community.livejournal.com/menstrual_cups/ |

diva cup is ok. you just have to get over the weirdness at first. "oh no re-usable, that's so gross!" whatever, if youre going to use tampons you may as well use something "gross and reusable" unless youre using completely natural tampons that havent been bleached, dont have rayon in them... ...need i go on? |
