girl: emma, olivia, ruth
boy: caleb, johnathon, haydn, vincent, desmond, twm (pronounced tom) but babies are too far away in the future to make a big list. funny story - my one cousin just pushed out a baby boy named noah patton, and my other cousin who is years away from pregnancy got pissed off because she wanted to name her kid noah. so pissed off she didnt even send any sense of congrats to the other cousin. fuckin rediculous. |

i've often wondered if a weird name is enough to literally warp a child.
ie: if the kid actually has my sense of humour but it never gets developed because he's become shy due to a silly name. and all because i named him something weird/funny/different because i thought/hoped he'd be like me and enjoy/embrace his different name. ooooh ironic. if i was white i'd name my kid Alistair, but i couldn't name a chinese kid that. i have no idea as to what to name a girl. but i'd never get too attached to a name just because my SO would have a particularly big say. especially since this is generally up the alley of the lady. not to mention various things like family traditions of certain names passed down etc. my family doesn't rock that steez so my SO's traditions would supercede my non-existant tradition. |

Hahah
I teach English in Taiwan and the Taiwanese parents name their kids the weirdest fucking names. Some of the parents let the kids choose their own English names which is a disaster as well.
To date these are some of the more memorable names I have had. If you don't believe me, ask anyone that has taught in Taiwan. They will back this up. Oyster Apple Dinosaur (named himself) Mico (pronounced Michael) Poke (pronounced Pokey) Bear Paven Hot (Met two actually) Nana Hankey Sugar Cherry Flower Spark James (pronounced Jame- es, they made it to syllables and he doesn't respond to James) Mr.Huang - (the kid refused to be called by a first name. So I had to call an 8 year old Mr.Huang) Spiderman (named himself but is now thinking of changing his name to Hank. How he went from Spiderman to Hank- I will never know) |

Wow lots of ideas here.
boys maybe clint; I read a list of the top ten or so names most commonly given to girls from wealthy families. They tended to be more traditional and/or elitist like alexandria or catherine. So for a while I was leaning that direction, but this kind of things changes a lot. I also read the most commonly given names to girls from poor families, but lets not go there! |
