The good deed of the day
I was just down at the local Starbucks and was sitting out on the patio enjoying some sunshine. At the table next to me this handicapped girl is pushing her wheel chair from behind to go and sit down. I guess she wanted to just sit in a normal chair and put her wheels to the side. Anyways, she goes to try and put down her drink and ends up falling over and spilling her coffee everywhere.
Of course I get up right away to help her back up. You can tell she's very proud and insists on trying to do it herself. Eventually she kind of grudgingly accepts my help. By this time there's like 30 people staring at her and she's kind of tearing up... embarassed I suppose. I took a quick glance at the sleeve of her cup to see what drink she got and went back in to the Starbucks. I bought her another drink and brought it back out to her. She looked quite embarassed again so I told her that the people at the store made it for her... she might have been even more embarassed if she had realized I paid for it. Either way, what an awesome way to brighten up your day! :) Doing nice things for people is good for the soul. Add the sunshine to this equation and I'm having a GREAT day! |

Nice one, dude. That reminds me of a few weeks ago. I was on my way to the ferry and running kinda late and I walked past these two women when one of them stopped me and asked if I could help. I said sure, and the other woman asked me to help walk the older lady to the corner and took off. The woman was sooo slow with her walker, it took me literally ten minutes just to walk with her up the hill to the corner and the whole time she kept trying to make small talk, telling me that I was a handsome young man and asking if I was married and whole nine yards. It was pretty funny. I made the ferry with like a minute to spare, haha.

An old lady waved me down as I was walking to my aunt's house. She needed help to get across the street, so I obliged. After that, she needed help to get into the corner store, so I led her in. She bought 2 bottles of booze (can't remember what exactly it was), and asked me to help her walk to the hospital down the road. Again, I obliged (I couldn't just leave her out there). Well, that ended up in me walking her HOME which was twice the distance. Dear goodness, and she walked so slow too. She behaved exactly like Gusto's lady, making small talk, talking to other people. But I did feel good after, and I had a new story to tell, so yea. |
