I don't know about places that have good coffee, but I do like going to the Pantry and to Knight and Day. Their breakfasts are usually awesome. Try and find some smaller places, they usually have the goods, but I don't know many in Vancouver and I can't remember the one that my mom use to take me to when I was little.

It's all about Bon's...the true greasy spoon...an experience in itself "Need another shot, there, BUDDY?!". A couple times I've gone in there with a friend and it was so busy they sat us at a table of 4 with another couple of strangers...nothing like making new friends at breakfast. If you haven't been you must go at least once.
I'm also partial to ABC breakfast, big portions and on Sundays they have specials on things like margarita's and seabreezes so you can have cheap drinks with your bacon and eggs. :) I tend to have "breakfast" around noon on a Sunday after so its perfect. |

hasn't the sunshine diner just moved across the street? i thought that it was a relocation, not an ending...
also, aren't de dutch and the wooden shoe the same thing? i've never noticed a real difference in price between the two i go to - the wooden shoe and de dutch on oak/16th. |

For the money, nothing beats Bons. I usually get the Eggs Benedict. For vegetarian, nothing beats Cafe du Soleil on the drive. I always get the special (mmm...tomato). |

Bon's on Broadway typical breakfast stuff and good service but a hell of a wait.
Hatch located on Broadway and Main (right across from Kingsgate mall) funky atmosphere awesome servers and great food. You can order vegitarian meals as well as different nifty breakfast meals if you feel like straying from the typical. the menu's are cool too becuase they have named different meals with cool names. PS- I wouldn't suggest for anyone to go or continue going to Red Umbrella I have a friend who worked there and she told me some disturbing stories about that place. I know Van was asked about, but since Slickety Jim's has already been mentioned I'll mention Floyd's Diner in Victoria. $10 will get you the most filling breakfast you've ever eaten, swear to god. I'm a big fan of the BC Hash, but the French Toast in general is glorious.
