^I was just gonna say the same thing as you pretty much.
I'm all for eating healthy but my pocket book can't handle all organic.... so bloody expensive. I find a happy medium I guess... I eat mostly healthy and buy some organic produce and what not. Definitely not exclusively organic though. |

True this is the way that some animals are treated, but you don't have to buy organic meat to avoid this, there is products like free-run chickens fed only grain, so maybe they aren't organic, but they are at least treated alright and fed stuff that is a bit more decent than the run of the mill chicken. Buying all organic food would be nice, but for living hte life of a student, I just don't have the funds to do that, when organic food is twice the amount of normal food. It's kind of like communism, nice in theory but unless you're rich, it's just really hard to finance

I've discovered that it's impossible to eat organic food in Fort Nelson. Even though my mom runs the Overwaitea's produce department, she still can't bring in fresh organic produce AND it's way too expensive, even if she orders it on the side and pays store-cost.
On a similar note, it's fucking hard to cut meat out of your diet here too. |

what ive heard from a friend of mine who has taken a nutrition class at university is that organic food is no diffrent then normal veggies only that you pay more... all you have to do is wash your stuff before you eat them to get rid of the pestcides but that is only comman sence.

Alot of organic food seems over priced... however wouldnt a chicken that was free range cost alot more to produce than 3 chickens in one tiny cage? Not to mention alot of organic food goes bad alot faster becuase it doesnt have the preservatives in it so it costs both the consumer and seller alot more.
Be smart with organic foods. Some organic foods are no diffrent then if you buy regular food. Example if your going to buy fruit/vegtables that need to be peeled, your already taking off the bad part. Eggs, chicken and wild salmon are better to buy organic. Correct me if im wrong, but I dont think beef makes such a difference since most cattle are already free range? Anyways good on the planet for going organic... I cant believe some of the chemicals, preservatives, and hormones they put in alot of our food. |

I've used www.spud.ca in the past. Rhia, even though you peel the fruit/veggies their outer skins are pourous, whatever pesticides etc are being used are absorbed into the fruit. As well through the roots system. Most fruit ie grapes apples oranges, are some of the worst for you inregards to the unnatural material. It's really all about what you can afford. I check the prices and buy according opting for organic whenever feasible. |
