Vancouver film School - Sound Design for Visual media
Alright, so im going to be coming back to Vancity to check out VFS for their program in Sound design. Has anyone on here taken this course or know of anyone that has? Im just wondering how many days a week these classes are, as they say they're 'full time'.
The thing is, i want to be able to work part-time, because like most parents, mine are going to be supporting me other then paying for my tuition. So if anyone has any interesting information about this course, please post. TA. -mace |

I know someone who went there but I dont really talk to them so I couldn't tell you the kind of schedule they had. But I'm pretty sure the courses last for like 48 weeks so it may be pretty intense. I know they're expensive as fuck too but if your parents are gonna pay then go for it. The sound design course there may be worth your money since the sound area of film production is less common and you could probly get a job easier once ur done.

Thanks for replying mcnasty, but i wasnt talking about a job after i finish, im looking for a part-time job while im doing the course. Just wondering if ill have the time to work. Because i read somewhere that the 3D course is pretty hectic, 6 days on, and 1 day off or some shit like that. So if anyone could help me get that information, That'd be well helpful. Thanks.

Second, i dont actually live in Vancity at the moment, i live outside of Canada actually. Do you now know where im coming from? Or are you still a complete fucking retard? It's a simple question by the way. You dont know me, or my parents to even say anything of that nature. Just because my parents are willing to pay for my education and yours arent paying for yours, doesnt mean you have to dish out your hate on the people who are doing something in their lives. Anyways, if anyone could kindly help me out that'd be sick. |

^youre an idiot.thats my point.if youre doing something with your life...DO IT FOR YOURSELF.dont get a bunch of e monsters on a rave board to answer questions for you you lazy shmuck.go to thier website, get info form there,if youre not in canada...TOO FUCKING BAD.wait until youre here to go to orientation.
and it has nothing to do with your parents footing the bill for your over priced education, its the fact that its over priced and you could get the exact same training from a public facility as opposed to private. And just because youre going with private training doesnt mean its going to be better then public.9 times out of 10 public training is the only way to go as they are the most reputable and recognized 100% by employers. But what do I know? Its not like you`ll be the last dumb rich kid to get private training paid for by thier parents and not even be able to secure a job in your desired field after you grad.:) maybe go speak with an employment counsellor, and do your labor market research as well.Or,you could be even stupider and rely on what the registrars at VFS have to say.Remember, youre just another sale they could give a fuck less about wether or not you get a job with the training they will be providing. |

Do you think im only trying to leech information off this one forum or something? Then again, what the fuck do you know? E monsters huh? I was just wondering if anyone who has gone to the school would give me some information and advice. Whats the big fucking problem? Its funny how your calling me lazy, thats real funny. Just because i posted a thread to ask a question? Yep, im lazy.. err gotta get off my fat ass and do something about it! uh-oh! You know what, ill do whatever the fuck i please. Ill goto any school i fucking choose. I dont need some little hooch like yourself telling me what to do. And for the last time, i wasnt questioning about getting a job afterwards, i was talking about WHILE im attending the course (part-time work). You stupid, stupid little girl. It's not like i even give two shits if the school even gets me a job. Ive already taken courses in Sound engineering and ive already talked to people who are currently in this career field. Dont think im blindly taking this course at VFS and know nothing about it already. Another thing thats funny is that you think your some fucking career expert. Oh.. a public is a better choice than private. Oh fuck off, it's how the student takes in the information and uses the facilities u wench. Do me a favour and never post in this thread again. You are fucking useless. Thanks love. |

whoaaa now.
I am attending the Sound Design course at VFS, and have really enjoyed all the faculty, facilities, and interaction inbetween departments(ie. posting 3d animations, Film campus films etc.) The Game Audio side is pretty nifty too, and gives you a good look into implementation, not just content creation, which is pretty cool.
All in all, there are definitely courses out there that are good, but this one really gives you all the experience and tools to learn the most. What you do with that knowledge is up to you of course! As for job placement, they DO care about whether you get hired as it reflects DIRECTLY on their teaching standards. You do good, you get recommended, simple as that. Don't even think about working whilst attending this course tho, I have a hard enough time escaping to play a few shows here and there. Definitely full time gig. Only a year tho, so it's bearable. Hope this was useful to you man, feel free to PM me if you have any more questions... Cheers Jeremie |

dude..the schools dont get you placed unless you have a perceptorship/internship/apprentice.Thats the only way you`ll get directly placed through your school.
I was talking about after youre done school,90%of people that take private training cannot secure a job in thier desired field after theyve commenced thier studies. And thats because private training is generally not recognized by employers as being legitimate training.*(also BC`s economys fucked but thats a whole nother rant) And I do know what Im talking about dude,my mom used to write contracts for various social programs including job placement, and alot of the clients that those particular centers would see would be young dumb shits like you that got fucked over by taking private training and not doing thier research first. !!OMG I POSTED IN YOUR THREAD!! |
