products for sensitive skin?
I know there are a lot of fnkers with similar skin so I thought I'd throw it out there, recently I have been afflicted with a horrible case of hives that have been on and off for the last two months...
I think that what is causing them is actually my laundry detergent! I tried switching to tide free, but it's still not helping. Anyone with super sensitive skin use a detergent and fabric softener that doesn't seem to bug them? |

haha, for some reason this reminds me of a friend who watched that seinfeld episode where kramer started shaving with butter. i guess he thought that was a good idea and tried it, then started raving about how it was the closest shave he ever had and would never go back. until he broke out like crazy. total butterface.

Try Arm & Hammer laundry detergent. It's pretty mild, what w/ that baking soda.
Dove soap is good for sensitive skin in the shower. Put some kind of moisturizer as soon as you dry off. They're all pretty much the same, but, stay away from foo-foo, over-priced, highly perfumed products. (Pick up a trial-size tube of Glysomed, and see if that works for you.) I get the same kind of problem any time I visit my family in Onscario; the water is a lot harder there, and my body/skin freaks out. So, I've tried a few different products. If you're still having problems after a month, GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR! Frosty (hates itching) |

do you know what you used as a kid? i know that if i use anything other then tide i break out like crazy, and it can only be the origional tide, and if i use bounce sheets they cant be the new crazy scented ones.
i find i cant use soap in the shower - i use a moisturizing exfoliant with an exfoliating rag. i usually just use coacoa butter creme for dry skin issues - if i get dry skin spots, i switch to basal creme - its expensive but a little does alot and i find it to be a damn good investment. |

i have picky skin too : ( to wash the clothes and sheets i can use a few products, ivory snow, tide FREE or sunlight FREE. i also use unscented fabric softener. if you're having problems and you think it could be cause by laundry soap rinse each load two times before drying......are you doing your laundry in a public machine? i don't know if it possible but maybe there's a build-up of soap residue left in the machines : S
it could also be caused by a food allergy, pet allergy, ect. there is a good lotion that you can pick up at the drug store called moisterelle (sp?). vaseline also works wonders as a moisterizer : ) |

Ugh, this happened to me when I was in junior high and I completely feel for you! Most detergents are way to harsh, so try something more environmentally friendly/natural because it should be less irritant than chemicals. Also as mentioned earlier cut out the fabric softener completely.
Plus: take into consideration that because of the irritation your skin is also hypersensitive to other products (like soap) so switch to something like either Cetaphil (by Galderma) or Johnson's Baby wash for a while until your skin goes back to normal. |

get the laundry detergent thats for baby stuff.I think its baby ivory detergent but im not sure.Nothing gets more sensitive then that!
and instead of seeing your GP go see a dermatologist, most GP`S are just going to force numerous perscriptions at you until you eventually find one that some what works.Going to see a dermatologist will prove to be more affective in resolving the issue youre having with your skin. |

My hands are super sensitive to perfumed products to the point where I start to look like a bleeding leper.
Jergens has a decent perfume free soap. Dove isn't too bad but pricey. Tide has a perfume/scent free soap that I've only ever been able to find at overwaitea/save-on. Check out the arm and hammer stuff too, its alright. |
