Bush is an ASSHOLE!
On soooo many levels.
But, I was infuriated by a news report, today. http://www.forbes.com/business/comme...ap2689326.html This IDIOT is promoting hydrogen cars! HYDROGEN! It takes MORE energy to create hydrogen than what can be produced by it! He wants to move his nation away from oil (stifles laugh) and wants people to start using hydrogen as an alternative energy source. My question is: Just HOW does this numbnuts expect to _create_ all this hygrogen? What energy source will he be expending to create this "fuel"? Any questions? Watch this documentary, http://www.endofsuburbia.com/ Frosty (hands up who voted Republican! *takes aim*) |

A fuel source needed to develop another fuel source? Im sorry im being a little slow, but then doesnt this negate any value in the new fuel source in the first place? As for Bush, it just comes down to making the most money possible for the class/corporations he represents, and in turn, himself. Who/What i want to know is the companies who will make the most money off the reality of hydrogen fuel and who lobbied for it the hardest? |

Venezuela recently giving Exxon the boot, and nationalization of oil, brazil with their ethanol, and Haiti under occupation, but boasting large sugar cane stores (i dont what the reality is today) Could Brazil and Cuba/Venezuela work together after all their history? And in turn lend military support to Haiti? Perhaps backed by Bolivia, and Peru? a lot of things to investigate, at the very least/ |

are you talking about extracting hydrogen from oil? because yeah, thats a really bad idea. but what about via electrolysis from solar/wind/hydro energy? |

You know what would be great and could totally work 100% if they wanted it to? Solar. You know why it's never, ever going to happen in a billion years? Not profitable enough. What a great planet. |

Not only is Hydrogen power 100% clean, (only output is water vapour and power) but if the power sources used to "harvest" the hydrogen through electolosis are enviromentally friendly, such as geothermal, wind, hydro, and solar, then you basically have a fuel source that is 99.9% enviromentally friendly. Also, utilizing nuclear power, though not a 100% clean power source by any means, would produce far more hydrogen per pollutant than any other, "unclean" source of power. Really, the only way that I see Hydrogen power fucking us over would be the increased and centralized emissions of water vapour over cities and other high use areas. THis could cause some fucked up weather patterns, and potentially who knows what could happen. Apocolypitic storms? I dunno, but anything is better than suffocating in carbon monoxide or getting fried by UV rays. No matter what we do, i think we're fucked. And yes, BUSH IS AN IDIOT. But I do believe that hydrogen fuel can and hopefully will buy us a little more time at least. Not like any of us are going to be around to see what difference it makes! LOL |

nuclear power and electric public transit (like skytrain) is the way to go.
nuclear is making a comeback. http://msnbc.msn.com/id/11080905/site/newsweek/ http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/...n1183535.shtml |

Wow this thread is full of false information, I don't even know where to start.
First, to rely only on one source of energy has already proved to be crutch so to just rely on solar would be wrong. Second, no matter what form of energy you try to use, there is going to be well to wheel efficiency hit. It's simple thermodynamics. Solar companies are doing really well right now, Just look at Sunpower, Evergreen Solar and Energy Conversion Devices. Ticker symbols SPWR, ESLR, ENER. Hell even bush has given significant tax credits for people moving over to solar energy. The energy for creating the hydrogen can come from anywhere including solar, wind, methanol reformation, the list goes on and on. Not to mention fuel cells tend to be quite a bit more efficient than Internal combustion engines. Hell if you use a fuel cell cogen system you can even use the heat produced to heat your house which makes the system even more efficient. Go do some research on Iceland as they plan on being the first country to run off a hydrogen economy. Quote:
