Found this and thought it was interesting...
Turns out that all the studies re: weed smoking and working out are "inconclusive" so if you want to get buuff, put down and bottle and, if you must, pack that bowl biatches!! LOL


"How Alcohol Effects Muscle Development and Recovery
Everyone knows that working out while under the influence of alcohol is dangerous because of the likelihood of injury, but few athletes realize that consuming alcohol after a workout, practice, or competition can cancel out any physiological gains you might have received from such activities. Not only does long-term alcohol use diminish protein synthesis resulting in a decrease in muscle build-up, but even short-term alcohol use can impede muscle growth.
In order to build bigger and stronger muscles, your body needs sleeps to repair itself after workouts. Because of alcohol's effect on sleep, however, your body is robbed of a precious chemical called "human growth hormone" or HGH. HGH is part of the normal muscle-building and repair process and the body's way of telling itself your muscle needs to grow bigger and stronger. Alcohol, however, can decrease the secretion of HGH by as much as 70 percent! Also, when alcohol is in your body, the production of a substance in your liver is triggered that is directly toxic to testosterone, a hormone essential to the development and recovery of your muscles.
Speeding the recovery of sore muscles and injuries is integral to optimal performance. Alcohol is a toxin-a toxin that travels through your bloodstream to every organ and tissue in your body, thus slowing your body's ability to heal itself. Additionally, once alcohol is absorbed through your stomach and small intestine and finally into your cells, it can disrupt the water balance in muscle cells, thus altering their ability to produce adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is your muscles' source of energy. ATP provides the fuel necessary for your muscles to contract."

what about marijuana??
Usually after I work out in the evening I smoke.... It relaxes my whole body... but does it have any effects like alcohol does ?? I hope not, because that would be another proof of alcohol being worse than marijuana

..... and shouldn´t the title of this article be:" how alcohol Affects .... "?

Everything I found regarding marijuanna was "inconclusive" which in scientist talk means " we have no fucking idea if it does anything...." there is some speculation that it fucks with hormones, but once again.. inconclusive, and unless you are smoking shitloads of pot, it is insignificant.

oh and btw ^^

This thread is meant to inform people like myself, who goto the gym for 1-2 hours everyday and woudl like to maximize their results. If you dont care. Thats great. But I for one, would like not to have 70% of my efforts wasted.

Its not like i dont drink... Friday is drinking night. Its all about priorities, if you want results, do what it takes to get them. If that means that my usual pool and beers on wednesday has to be just pool on wednesday, then I have no problem with that!

I work out I drink on occasion and never right after I've been to the gym hell I wouldn't even have a smoke or smoke a joint right after the gym to me it's totally defeating the purpose.

for the record, I haven't had a drop of alcohol since the last week of feb, i'm not a gym worker outer, I occasionally do yoga..but yeah, even NOT drinking has caused me to lose weight and my whole body feels so much better.

Yea,

I guess because the government says its ok, it is easy to forget that alcohole is actually one of the more destructive things you can do to your body.

Same with me. I haven't drank in a few weeks and I am noticing it for sure. I go on really long walks when I go promote downtown which is helping too.

loosing 70% that is alot! But sounds right. Alchohol is heavy in your system, high in calories, makes you lazy and hungry. It's crazy how drinking is such a regular and excepted thing in our society.

i'm not fit, don't go to the gym, and have never done roids.

a lot of the information on steroids is just like all the information about drugs. you have to make the effort to sift through the bullshit to get to the goods.

there are a variety of medications with steroids in them, and they are obviously perfectly legal.

in certain cases steroids can save an infant's life. so it's not like "OMG ANY STEROIDS = DEAAAAAATH!"

/not advocating the use of roids, but they are not the boogeyman that they are made out to be.

but i think there is a diffrence between testosterone and say your basic steroid based inhaler.
i certainly don't see a good use for say Windstrall or Equipoise other than what we use it for at the track. yet it sold like hotcakes to my friends who were in the whole surrey wrestling scene.

they love the clenbuterol too.

made 4x profit on that, bought a bottle for 100, sold it for 400.

not anymore though....
