Graveyard shift rules!!!!!

So up until now, I've been doing the afternoon/evening shift inbound customer service, easy shit, especially since half of my shift there's no calls coming in. Pretty slack job. This past weekend I got switched to graveyard shift, and holy crap!!!!!! In an 8 hour shift, I do a total of about 42 minutes of actual work.

Now that leaves me with about 7 hours and 18 minutes, to surf the net, check my email, read a book, visit F&K, chat on msn, do some crossword puzzles, play Battleship with coworkers, play all the Super Nintendo games I can handle, and watch DVDs on my portable DVD player,. As you can see, I've got a stressful work environment.

Does/has anyone here ever worked the graveyard shift? Do tell.

I used to work a gravey but it was all work.... no slack.

I worked from 2 in the afternoon until 2:30 in the morning Monday to Thursday and had the Friday to Sunday off. It was nice because I had 8 hrs of overtime every week and a long weekend every weekend....

Pure graveyard-aholic here. There's usually enough work to keep busy but, if we have the opportunity to slack, we can with no overseer making sure we're not getting paid to just sit on our asses.

I just like the "do work; no bullshit customers" deal that comes with night shifts.

I guess that's one of the only downsides to this job, we never have a consistant set of days off. We work 40 hours/5 days a week, but the days off are random. Sometimes I get Monday&Thursday off, sometimes Sunday&Wednesday, it changes every week. I do get the schedule for the next 6 weeks, so it's easy to plan in advance for stuff, cause I know which days I have off, like a month in advance.

Also, my shift is 11:30pm to 7:30am, which works perfectly for me. I get all of the late afternoon off, the evening, then when I'm at work the rest of the world sleeps. Then when I get home, I sleep while the rest of the world works. So it kinda balances out.

Plus as a bonus, everyone who works on the graveyard shift, is a total metal head. So we get to listen to Pantera, Slipknot, SOAD really loud, while during the day shift, we were forced to listen to The BEAT, and ZED FM :(

I work from 5 pm to 530 am monday to friday. It sucks , but the premium the company pays for night shift lets first years like me earn more than a second year. It's a laid back shift , but we end up getting more done than the day shift which has 3 times the people. I like not having to wait to use the cranes , and the music stays crankled all night.

I work at a call center that is basically the same as that except for my days always consistant every week. Its pretty sweet, sometimes I would rather do a job that keeps me buisy to pass the time though.

I miss the Call Center environment... not so much the work though!

I work 4 day a week, 10 hour shifts. 730am to 6pm Mon-Thurs. So I get my 3 days off. Im happy with it!
