Finding a bomb

So, just lazing around watching some show about finding and destroying bombs left over from WW1 in the oceans!

They said there was a family on a boat out in the ocean who thought they saw something in the water. When they got up to it, it was a fucking mine!

I mean, holly shit, could you imagine just cruisin around and running into a big old bomb floating at the surface! Things designed to take out massive subs, and your in your little fiberglass boat!

They called the CoastGuard and the mine was taken care of.
But wow, wouldnt that be something!

it also shows how large scale the first world wars were....that there's still shit out there

those things were built to last. They're still disarming live landmines all over Asia and Europe

Yes there is actually a special bomb squad in France that dispose of old bombs and unexploded artillary shell's from the first and second world war. There ars till millions of unexploded shells in the fields especially in places like the somme and Vimmy.

Had they gotten to close to it, it could have gone off! If its designed to destroy metal subs, what would it have done to a fiberglass boat?

my uncle had a friend back in croatia who worked as a fisherman and ended up losing an arm, when an old world war two mine they picked up in a net exploded.
