I am guilty of it too somewhat, although i have always rooted for my mothers homecountry in all international events. But I love it for what it is, can you argue with that? Cheering for your country? Take the olympics for example, who gives a shit about any of those athletes until olympic time comes around. Then when you win a gold in synchro swimming, which no one gives a shit about, its BRAVO COUNTRY X and y ou feel damn proud. Its teh people who know nothing about football and suddenly jump on a big name team like england, brazil, germany etc etc that are annoying. |

I really wish El Salvador was in the WC, altho they haven't qualified since like 82. But I've always been a Brasil fan regardless.
And who cares if people only follow this during the WC... it's something the the WHOLE world is experienceing at the same time. There's more buzz for WC than the olympics. ps. Korea doesn't stand a chance. Quote:

meh, brazil whoops a mediocre japanese team in a meaningless game.
i wouldn't exactly get excited. brasil has not looked like the favourites this tourney. not even close. the only reason there isn't a panic about it is because of their rep. *re: bandwagon. i hate bandwagoners, but personally i make an exception for brasil lovers for this simple reason. THEY ARE THE BEAUTIFUL GAME. a blind man can see the joy and fun they play with. it's the best possible representation of soccer. and quite frankly it's hard not to cheer if you're a casual fan when you see the shit they do. that being said, my moms cheers for brasil. so yes it is the epitome of bandwagon action. |

^ Yeah I agree it was an easy game to watch... just seems like Brazil doesn't have much to compete w/ in this group. The game with Croatia was a good game. Kaka has been consistant at driving that ball to the goal so far.

Its not so much that i dislike bandwagoneers......
Its bandwagoneers that just pick the top, most well known teams to have something to talk about with the other easy picking bandwagon jumpers, and to be able to cheer everytime they get easy wins. True national supporters give their hearts out to their teams, and it means alot more than having something to cheer about or have something to talk about aroudn the watercooler the next day. Im not denying, Brazil is an excellent team, watching them play against Japans and their ball control, passing and game in general is a dreaaaaaaaaaaaaam. If your gonna pick a team to cheer for, find a meaning to cheer for them other than the fact that their good. Then the game isnt so superficial but has more emotion and feeling to it. Even when they lose. Not HATING on anyone for this though....its not a huge huge thing, everyones entitled to their own choices............... However misguided they may be ;) |

Brasil is pretty entertaining to watch I'll give them that. I watched a part of the game against the Japs, but the Japs were just too weak to make any kind of a game outta it.
I just wanna see England vs. Brasil , then watch Rooney make Ronaldhino fancy pants look like a goof :p |
