Most cells have the ability to be a GPS. For a monthly fee, you can have GPS on your phone ALL the time (like, for example, if a company wants to track the whereabouts of their employees). However, if you don't select the option, it is only enabled when an emergency call is placed. Pretty fucking awesome if you ask me! |

gps is handy in situations like this. but, sadly, i dont belive older phones have the abiltiy to be tracked.
BUT the police dont have a system to track locations of cell phones calls, they would have to have a gps mapper. So i dont think its possible. all that shows up on the police screen is your phone number, and probably the name associated with it. i doubt it will tell the police if you GPS in ur phone. |

If your cell phone is lacking GPS, they can at the very least track which general area you happen to be in. I think up to 100m squared, but don't quote me on that.
I remember reading about it in a cool thriller book called f2f by Philip finch damn near a decade ago. The technology may have improved since then but I know that what they spoke of then was accurate to the technology of the times. Fucked up cool book about pre-internet online stalking (using BBS's and stuff). Really keen book, Highly recommend to anybody. |
