BC Vacation spots
Hello!
I'm looking for some info from all of you who have travelled around BC in the summertime. I'm in the process of looking for somewhere to vacation in the middle two weeks of august. I don't do camping, so scratch that. Also anywhere near a lake or ocean is a bonus. Where have you gone, where did you stay, pros and cons greatly appreciated. Right now I'm looking towards Tofino, but I can't decide on where to stay. Anyways, tips, links, stories, etc. much much appreciated again! |

Tofino is soo over rated and expensive. I've been there for the past 5 years and every year it gets a lil duller. Its true that if you have never been there before it can be great with the Whale Watching and the Hot Springs and Surfing etc.
I would suggest Harrison because the resorts there are beautiful. It too can be a bit expensive but definetly better then Tofino and it has Hot Springs there too :) Oh and also Penticton and Osoyoos. Just my two sense. Have an awesome time Myra <3 |

If you travel B.C. Dont plan it. Just drive, its the best way to see it.
I could (and just was) make a long list with every place in BC Ive visited and why you should or what you can do there. But honestly, I think the best way is to just drive across B.C. Every place in B.C. has amazing sites and any town/city usually has something unique to offer. If you are just looking to go to one place to visit. I would suggest either Kelowna or Kamloops. Both are great places, nice views and have lots to see and do in the day and night. Otherwise, some other nicer places off the top of my head, Summerland, Pentiction, Tofino, Nanimo, SalmonArm, Trail, and actaully, any place that runs along side Okanogan Lake would all be nice places! |

hit up Atlin Lake.. it's not entirely in BC, but it's a hell of a place to vacation. Rent a houseboat, enjoy the massive lake... and it's fed right from a glacier so you can actually drink fresh glacier water. One of the most beautiful places on Earth, in my opinion

Mayne island, Pender Island, Galiano.... I love the Gulf Islands, Mayne island has this cool beach called "Oyster Bay", when the tide is low you can walk out to this mini island/peninsula thing which is a big sandstone structure, but when it's high you can swim out to it and sunbathe!
*best childhood summer memories* If you do go, make a raft for me OK. |

I'm a huge fan of the okanagan but I have alot of family there so I don't every stay at hotels or anything.
Bamfield is awesome too, I stayed at McKay Bay lodge last year and it was really nice. I only go there to kill hundreds of pounds of Salmon and Halibut though :) I hear they have nice diving as well. |

Tigh-Na-Mara Resort in Parksville on Vancouver Island is just gorgeous. The beaches go on for ever when the tide is out. There are tonnes of little tourist spots not too far away that are great to visit aswell such as cameron lake, cathedral grove, etc. OH, in Parksville they have a sand castle compeition sometime in August I think, and it's amazing to see what some people have made out of sand!

We have had a cabin on mayne island since I was Born, 1977!! wow i'm old.. Mayne Island is absofuckingly amazing. I have been a blessed man for having the memories and the access to the cabin we have there. Actually, I think I might go this weekend, I got to go before I move to Calgary. Oddmud |

Tofino is beautiful, although staying there can be a bit pricey. I highly suggest taking in the beauty of the entire area by also visiting Uclulet, Long Beach, Sproat Lake (you can rent out cabins with private docks, and it's a suuper clean lake), etc.
After soundwave we'll be stopping at Sproat for some nice R&R before driving all the way back to Victoria. |

Sinshine Coast - langdale, gibsons, ROBERTS CREEK, wilson creek, sechelt, and on and on.
I lived there for a few years it is a dope place to get away too! To take a vehicle over it is like $40 including driver for a return trip! Bussing is super lame there so you got to have a car to go there. I can tell you how to get to the white rapids. It take about and hour mini hike and is absolutley amazing! Lots of resorts on lakes since you don't dig camping. Good restaurants and beach parties. It is totally calming there. Clean lakes for swimming. Well as clean as lakes can get. Tofino is dope too, but don't go on the whale watch boats! My family did one year and we almost didn't make it back to land :( Courtney and comox is good, oh and nanaimo river is a must! Ferry is more expensive to go over there but I know alot of dope places there too. Kamploops, kelowna, osoyous (sp?) ok... now I want to road trip it up! :D |
