Where do you go to get your electronics repaired?
My dvd player isn't playing my discs :( . I know it would probably be cheaper to just buy a new one, but I bought mine from Japan and it playes divx, vcd, dvd, kodak pix etc. so I don't want a new one. Where should I go to get it repaired? How much do you think it'll cost me?

or You take a trip to Walmart, get a DVD player with the same features = $29.95 I'm willing to escort you to Walmart, if you're willing to give me the $1100 you'll save. I might even do it for half that price. |

Divx,Xvid, Avi, MP3, MPEG4, SVCD, etc, etc, etc, region free with an NTSC to PAL converter. $70
nearly all new electronics are made with surface mount components and are usually assembed robotically to reduce the size of the PCB board and by extension the electronics. Surface mount electronics aren't repaired easily like electronics made from traditional components (i.e. Stereo amplifier) if something has broken in your DVD player it's a way better idea to replace the unit if it's out of warranty rather than try and get it repaired. It's very unlikely you'll be able to find somebody to fix it for less than the cost of a new unit. Considering the nature of a mutli-format DVD player its probably a better idea to get a new unit which is likely to be more compatible with newer codecs. |

You might want to try buying one of those at home cleaners to clean the laser in the DVD player. I't's probably just dirty and that disc will come in handy for CD players, car stereos etc.
Try that first and then resort to getting it checked out. Don't want to be charged for doing something you could have done at home |
