Avana, I totally agree with you. Girls fighting is gross, trashy, and bloody embarassing. However, for some reason I always seem to be on the receiving end of this kind of thing. I find girls these days are much more ready and willing to fight. The only way i'll fight is if i'm defending myself or my friends and i'll never throw the first punch.

One time a native girl tried to beat me up at the bourbon because the bartender helped me before her..and she was there first. She totally could have kicked my ass had her friends not gotten involved...I will admit I was frightened..because I am sooo non-confrontational in that way.
One time my big and tall friend picked a fight with a girl half her size and got her ass beat..meaning dont pick a fight if you cant hold your own. Most girls who pick fights are looking for attention, the other girls are crazy trash =D |

I think if the situation demands a women(or man) to protect herself(himself) or someone else from significant harm, then she(he) has the right to do so by any means neccessary. |

(tangent)I noticed someone posted a photo of Mahatma Gandhi, as he usually a common reference when people talk about non-violence. But I think there is some misconceptions about what he believed in, and what he perpetuated. He has been a consistent inspiration and source of study/interest for me for quite some time, and one thing that I have concluded was that his idea of civil disability was the farthest he was able to condone dissent and purposeful resistance and still not lose his ability to have some sort of political channel with the British government. I think his role was far more militant than people perceive, and a lot less peace and bullshit. I think his ability to be so spiritual and loving and yet at the same time disciplined and revolutionary was and is a testament to how amazing he was. |

btw, if you want a very passive-aggressive self-defense technique, I recommend aikido. A lot less about confrontation and a lot more about redirecting your opponent's energies back upon themselves... So really the harder they throw, the harder they fall... very defensive techniques. First thing I ever learned in aikido was how to effectively step out of the way.

Just about every time there's a cross-martial-arts competition, the jujitsu guys always come in the top rankings and the tae kwon do guys always hit the bottom.
Jujitsu is good because it teaches a lot of improvisation, how to deal with multiple opponents at once. Aiki-jujitsu is a combination of jujitsu and aikido, kinda how ninjitsu is a combination of aikido and karate. Both are excellent variations on grappling.
