lol...yeah the infamous yo....well, this year is a much different trip for me then last years. Im really focusing on the spiritual side of peru and bolivia. working heavily with the shamanistic and ritualistic use of the plant medicines down here such as san pedro and of course.....ayahuasca.
as a result ive been on a strict regiment of no alcohol, exessive salts, sugars, red meats and drugs for about 2 months now.im really going for it this time so i havent sampled bolivias finest and dont think i will.....
anyways last year in peru i could get a gram of the cleanest, most pure yo you could ever hope to get for about 10-15 cnd. the stuff was unbeleivable. completely free of all the groddy horrible shit that gets put into it by the time it makes it up to canada.absolutly no drip and no hard come downs. those are strictly by products of the horrible, HORRIBLE shit you find back home....evan if one thinks that its "pure class a stuff". every backpacker in the clubs sampled. youd be a fool not to. shit, in cusco the nite clubs employ their own dealers to insure a safe and secure supply for gringo revelers...
last year was fun...but im long over that now...
the politics behind coca is really complex. the coca leaf is a extremely sacred and important part of andean life, folklore and tradition.its use is widespread in daily life here and i could walk down to the market at anytime and buy a bag of leaves for a few cents to chew, for tea,for good fortune ect.the health benifits are huge, its full of vitamins, prevents nausea, aleviates altitude sickness and of course helps with fatigue lol.
almost every andean shamanic ceremony ive been in involves coca in one way or another. used as offerings to pachamama(mother earthe) and the apus(moutain spirits)...coca leaf isnt used much in the amazon though.
its an incredibly important plant.
its such a shame what a stigma this plant has to the western culture....
