retrieving deleted files???
sooo, somehow my mom deleted her inbox and then continued to accidently delete her deleted items box as well(please don't ask me how she accomplished this)! just wondering if any of you computer guys know whether or not i can retrieve those files. they're not in the recycle bin. any help would be great :)

if they were files you could do it, but since they were emails (which are really all just parts of a file), i think you're gonna have a lot more trouble. you might have some luck with a program like this:

you can use this to undelete items from outlook. there's a demo that might tell you if it's gonna work for sure, but you might have to buy it to get the emails back.

If you want to recover files the most important question is what filesystem! Well...maybe there's an easier way... Did your mom delete her mails after fetching them from the server? (leave messages on server) If not they should still be there...try the webmail first! :) |

nah man, you didn't read the thread right. files didn't get deleted, emails did. the emails are part of a pst or a dbx file (depending on if it's outlook or outlook express), which is a database and might as well be its own filesystem. |

There ya go... Anyway, I don't know Outlook at all, so I prolly can't help here. (maybe she should switch to thunderbird or get a gmail account) But you could try this: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/.../oerepair.mspx Good luck! :) Last edited by anewlife; Aug 24, 06 at 11:38 AM. |

you'd only be right if the actual pst/dbx file was deleted and not just the contents. the emails in pst/dbx files aren't files, they're records in a database. i'm not trying to argue with you and i don't know what you're trying to say exactly, but whatever it is is kinda wrong. i know outlook really well. :P

Oh, I see...didn't know that Outlook saves the mails in a database.
You're right then of course, silly me. Maybe there's a cheaper one here: http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/d...file_software/ |
