From Vancouver
you can find some good deals for 1000-1200 for Puerto Vallarta Cancun is in the price range you are looking for. nothing is cheaper then 1200 there. remember, the pacific is colder water then the atlantic and that novemeber is still considered winter down there main thing is to check tripadvisor first |

I'd recommend staying at one of the Palace resorts in the area.
They have a lot of sister hotels and if you stay at one you get to use the facilities at any one of their sister hotels that are of similar rating or lower (they range from 3-5 stars) by just showing your wristband. I stayed at the Aventura Palace at the Mayan Riveria and when I took a day trip to Cancun I ate, drank and took a nap at the Cancun and Beach Palace resorts. It might not seem like a big deal but when they shuttle you from resort to resort, you eat and drink for free and if you want to stay a night in one of the hotels instead of where you are booked they permit that if they have space. |

Next question: Does anyone know how the surfing is in Cancun? |

THE OASIS
The Grand Oasis, if you can afford it. There are 5 hotels on their property, the largest and best being the Grand. With the black wristband for the Grand you get premium liquor, way nicer rooms, and several restaurants that are not included with the other packages. I stayed there for 17 days during March and it was AMAZING. I highly recommend going during March (helloooo spring break!) b/c both the Maxim and MTV day parties are held on the beach at the Oasis. As well, if you book through StudentCity, you are not only all-inclusive at the Oasis, but at any events that they throw (club nights, booze cruise, day parties, etc.) www.oasishotels.com www.studentcity.com Everyone I met who lives/works down there said that the Oasis was the nicest except for the Hilton and the Riu Palace, which are more $$ As for the surfing, it's OK, it really depends on the time of year and how windy it is. There was a little storm for a couple of days while I was there and the water was waaaay too choppy. Last edited by galaxie; Aug 28, 06 at 09:06 PM. |

If you like to drink then I forgot to mention that all the Palace resorts serve international alcohol and not the local crap.
The food at most of the hotels are a'la carte and they also have buffet style restaurants as well. I must also say that the food was very good and there is ALWAYS fresh desserts... that's right... desserts. I'd hit that up the minute it was open and I take one of each and that would be TWO plates full. Lastly... if you can stay at an adults only resort. Trust me on this one. |

Grand Oasis Cancun! :)
The pool is huge, and winds across the entire property. It's not an adults only resort, BUT there is one large pool that is, and it has a swim up bar, etc. It's not advertised as a "family" resort...when I was there I saw a few kids but most were teenagers and were getting crazy wasted while their parents were off doing whatever. haha. |

I gained 11 lbs in 17 days thanks to the ridiculous buffet at the Oasis. I mean, who the fuck does that? Geez. |
