then last night he faced my favorite tennis player marcos bagdattis (ranked #8 in the world), beating him in a grueling 6-4, 6-4, 3-6, 5-7, 6-3 victory. agassi out ran, out shot, and out-lasted bagdattis, a player 16 years his junior.
alot of his momentum has been coming from the crowd, who have been behind him every step of the way. there is not a single person in that arena that was not cheering for agassi.
i hope that andre wins the US open, even with opponents like roger federer, rapheal nadal, and andy roddeck. but if he can just keep feeding off of the crowd and the other players do not build any momentum, he will have a fighting chance.
he is one of the greatest players to ever set foot on the court and an inspiration to all tennis players, young and old. he will be greatly missed.
