Whens it okay to laugh? (regarding steve irwin)
taken from another board.. personally i think it's tasteless to make light of a situation like this that has happened not even a week ago..

I don’t think people in North America really appreciate what this man actually does. He is not just the crocodile hunter on his television show, he does so much more. Living on the other side of the world here most people don’t understand. I was in Australia this year and I got to go to his zoo, where he spends most of his time caring for the animals he has saved. He goes around rescuing injured animals that have been hit by cars like wombats, kangaroos and wallabies. His mission was to educate people about animals and how they live. I have never seen another human who loves and cares about animals so much. He has taken environmentalism to a new level. He has got younger people, and people all over the world interested, because of his enthusiasm and how much he finds all animals interesting. Whoever thinks this is funny is sick, who ever says he had it coming could say that about any person who has a hazardous job, but it doesn’t mean they deserve to die. I believe he was an awesome person and he died doing what made him happy. I really feel sorry for his wife and 2 girls, because they are going to suffer the most from losing their husband and father. You wouldn’t laugh if this happened to you so don’t make fun of it happening to someone else’s family. Thats my opinion.
Sorry for being so intense about this but i cryed when I heard about this on the news. |

Exactly. What was funny about Dale Earnheart dying while racing a car? What would be funny about a hockey player dying from a bad injury in a game? I just don't see what's funny about saying someone had it coming because they have a dangerous job. Where's the punchline? I deal with death by making jokes, that's my personality, but the point is to actually make a joke and not just laugh because someone died. In regards to how soon it's appropriate to actually make jokes, South Park did an episode on that (apparently, AIDS is funny now).

^koalas?
nuh-uh. In some parts of Australia they've introduced sterilizations because they're reproducing too fast. http://edition.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/as...ull/index.html |

i don't think a koala could kill him, but i think one could give him syphilis... it's a big problem in the koala "community" because they are "fucking sluts".
