Playland/PNE...your opinion??
i personally think its extremely overpriced...PNE comes out to 50$ if you want gate admission and full ride access! that's almost as expensive as disneyland..with no where close to the amount of attractions/experience!
and Playland alone..whats that now? $25 ish..and its not that bad but they claim to have so many rides..when theres only about 5 good ones! PNE is good for 2 things: the food, and Raves =) OH! and fright nights were fun the first time around..haha some of the houses are so trippy |

The PNE has gone downhill for years ever since the city wanted to move it out of the present location.
I'm an old fart here but it used to be a lot of fun when they had huge international exhibits in the Forum buildings which have since been torn down for a skate park. There was lots or neat things to look at, the Showmart was really big and you actually had to go 2 or 3 days just to see all the stuff at the fair. I'm not really into Arts & Crafts but I must say that some of the pieces they used to display were very impressive... and the topographical relief map of BC was alway cool to look at. When I worked there they let people in free to Playland after 10PM and there would be hundreds of people waiting outside the gates each night to come spend a few hours. Weekends were nuts but it was good for business. Now all that is gone, the prices have gone up, the portions of food are smaller and cost more, the rides suck, the prizes aren't as cool and you have to sell a kidney just to spend a day there. Yes... things were better in the past and unfortunately it will never be the same again. |

haha some promoter should throw rave at playland, hell i would pay at least $100 to go
on other thoughts, the hunted house should be free and accessable all season (not just around halloween time) also revelation & drop zone should be cheaper :yucky: |

The P.N.E was definately the highlight of my childhood..I went last year..bought the all day pass..I was probably the only one over 20. Not cool.
I dont even know if it sucks anymore..because I hardly go. I could really go for an elephant ear right about now. |

Wow.
Definitely, the consensus, here, is that of disappointment of the PNE. I tried to go 3 times, but, got boned by friends bailing, each time. I'd have gone on me own, but, I've done that, before, and, it's not fun. The whole deal w/ the PNE is to go have fun w/ family and friends! The worst is having to go on rides on your own, or paired up w/ random strangers. You just want someone you know, next to you, so you can holler in their face! The prices? I've not been for years (too damn busy!), and I was honestly shocked @ the cost! Yes, the midway is pretty damn limited! I'm a ride _FANATIC_! So, I know my rides and coasters. The PNE coaster was once voted ('93?...) the 8th best wooden coaster in N. America. Mostly for it's air-time. Almost worth the price of admission, itself! Almost. But, whatever. I never went. Just like a lot of past years. ~...maybe when I'm a senior...~ Frosty (thinks those "Li'l Donuts" _SUCK_!) Edit: http://www.dump.com/sbgne/ Just found this file! _SOMEONE_ knows their designs! This one is what roller coasters are all about: BIG dips and BIG air time!!! Last edited by gnosis; Sep 09, 06 at 05:38 AM. Reason: added link |

actually is has gotten cheaper if i remember corectly. I went this summer which was the first time since about 3-4 years ago. I remember back at the time when dropzone and rev were newer it was about what, $50 to ride them? I went a couple weeks ago and it was about $22 for each or $40 for both. Only did the dropzone but it was well worth the $22. But if you consider doing the all day pass and riding both these rides which isnt included i see your point. All day pass, these 2 rides and food will cost you over $100. damn thats a step up in price compared to before. Not alot of money in my opinion for an entire day of fun but it can sure get costly thats for sure.

I went this summer for the first time in a few years and I had a blast. Obviously the admission is going to be alot, its just expected, dont go if you cant afford it. It takes alot of money to put things like that on and pay the staff. I love rides, and I had so much fun goin on all the rides this year, the lineups were good and the weather was awesome. The only thing that sucks is the price for food, its so expensive, but its fair food.. what can you expect

Also if your gonna go to the fair during the PNE and you want to go on the rides.
Go early when we went there the ride lineups were short even for the coaster until about 2 or 3 just get rediculous after that but ya its a little pricey these days. |
