Thoughts' AND/OR Complaints on the new 'FNK Vancouver Event Calendar'
Thoughts', suggestions, complaints, complements, whines, groans and praise are all welcome. Without input I cannot make anything better for you! The Vancouver Event Calendar is only in baby stages and will be developed in coming weeks to better organize event listing for (who else) then YOU the users of it. Already on the to-do list:

Like you said before myles most people never like change.
I think its too soon to really critict the new system, however I think im more for it than against. Looks to be much more organized and I like the colour code thing(club/rave/other). Having all the promo in one section will allow ppl to see all their options at once and compare instead of just seeing the anoying hyped threads in the regular forum. This should hopefully gear my self and others to check out the calender more often :p |

I like the changes.....
I was just wondering if there is a way to perhaps have an option in there to list every event in an ordered list including the description and what not. (kinda like how teamhardcore.com used to have it ). I always found this to be a useful. |

I think you would create a lot more revenue for the site if you sold tickets online for the events witha $2.00 service charge
Honestly I think you'd sell 100's and 100's a month Maybe say any promoter who sells tickets online for you does not have to pay the monthly fee I think it's a Win/Win/Win situation FNK wins cause it creates more revenue for it's site The Promoter wins cause he/she has a huge site to sell tickets from a large site, and also saves money The Raver wins cause (s)he'll save money on the service charge. Since most outlets charge $5.00 a ticket nowdays. You already have a paypal account so it's really easy! |

i don't like it - it's harder to promote a show (calander is more useful for a "what's going on tonight/next friday") type deal and I'll be damned if I have to pay money to post on a message board.
I'd rather donate money from paypal or something... PS Agrodave has a killer idea there... |

i like it, easier to see whats going, just need all the promoters to post their info in the calendar.
isnt the calendar free to post in? just the threads that cost money? most threads are nothing but the same people with posts like "bump!", "to the top!", "1 week to go!", "so stoked!", "i'm doing E bombs!" anyway. |

i dont really like the new calendar though. you should make it like teamhardcore i agree where you can scroll down a big list instead of clicking on individual dates... or even providing both functions somehow and you guys need to fix the events review link. it's hidden now |

Myles:
One thing thats is needed and might be easy to add into the calender is a search function!! I'm right now searching for info on the Ferry Corsten event. So far I have not found anything on it .Perhaps the promoter has not posted anything . But either way it would be nice if you could just go into the event calender and type a keyword or two into a search box and it will come up with matches and such. nm......just did an advanced search on the 'Vancouver feature events' and found what i was looking for. It would still be cool if there was a search box dedicated to just this forum though instead of click around the advanced search area.:y: Last edited by DJDeeb; Apr 18, 05 at 10:20 AM. |

I dont disagree with FnK charging as before it was "free advertising" However for smaller promoters its just not worth paying that much to get attention for a night small event. |

I'm not keen on it. Paying to allow a thread isn't a hot idea.
Smaller parties won't pay that kind of money just to start a thread. And how about the free beach parties and such that go on during the summer? Or really cheap parties? You should encourage people to throw cheap/free parties, not discourage them. When it's a regular thread that everyone can reply to, it creates a lot more hype, people can see new updates, see who's going and check back to see more replies about the subject. This means it's easy to get excited for a party the weeks building up to it. And it's very easy to miss things in the calander as well. |

As mentioned in another post, we'll have something sorted out soon for the free bbq, campfire - party thing. Keep in mind it can still be added for "free" in the calendar section. Bare in mind the calendar is still under construction. We're adding some visual enhancements and some more features soon. :D |

It is still detremental to small parties. Why bother trying to charge people to start a thread in the first place....? $10 a week for a thread, that's a little steep... |
