Shut up and sing

I am really stoked to see this movie.

In no way, do I think that the Dixie Chicks should have spoken out against anything political. I find that people who are not recognized as a Political Activist should not speak out like that. In a lot of ways, they got what was coming. But I am really curious to see how this film is.

freedom of choice and freedom of speach is something we have to be thankful for. i completely agree with their actions and hope more artists would take a stand and make a difference.

So if you're in the public eye you should shut up about public matters?

I'm failing to see the logic here. Anybody is allowed to have an opinion. Why not performers? If Bono is allowed to run benefits for feeding the starving children in the middle east why can't the Dixie Chicks complain about the guy dropping bombs on them?

There is a difference between raising awareness, and calling the president a jerk. Not to mention, the one girl that did say anything at all retracted her statement and apologized for it.

If you are going to pick a side of the political arena to stand on, stay on it. Say what you mean, mean what you say. I don't often see Bill Maher, Michael Moore, or Rush Limbaugh retracting what they say.

I will definately be watching this..however it will probably be a rental..and I will probably smoke my yearly joint.

I agree 100% with what the dixie chicks said..As far are her apologizing..people were sending them death threats and if it takes and 'im sorry' to calm that shit down..I would apologize to.

Well Said I couldn't have said it any better.

Why should artists be silenced? Why do we have to keep our mouths shut on something that is going on and very real and so horrible.

I see what you are saying, but at this point I don't believe they are using their status for good, they seem to be doing everything to redeem themselves in the public eye.

I don't believe that these women should have stood up during a concert and made political statements. Since then, the damage control they have tried to orchestrate just made it worse.

There is a good timeline here, of their fall from grace.

I just read that whole thing..without my glasses thanks alot!

I dont think that they are trying to take back what they said. I think that they are trying to clear the air of silly threats and drama. They are still making it very clear that they believe in freedom of speech, and that bush isnt right. But like I said..if it means myself and family members are in danger..I would definately reword it a bit. Apologize without apologizing.

As far as them saying what they said. Good for them. Most people spend their whole lives dissagreeing with something, but without ever speaking up. If I had the chance to express my views on this war, and george bush, infront of 50,000 people..I would do it. =D

They aren't trying to make it right, they are backpeddling, plain and simple.

They are protecting themselves and families..They are still making it very clear how they feel, but without directly insulting the president is front of masses.

Well except maybe when she calls him a "stupid fuck"

Plain and simple.

:D
