I saw the trailer and was quite excited to see this film.

I haven't read any of the reviews so I had no idea what the film would be like and I found out it is a big disappointment.

For me the film didn't really go anywhere and the pace was pretty bland... kind of like watching Boiler Room on Prozac.

Frankly, the poster for this movie made it look like nothing but a steaming piece of shit. Looks like Will Smith trying to shed his hip-hop/sci-fi-action-thriller persona and move into more "Dramatic" work. This happens every five years or so where major actors start making nothing but tripe. Think Jim Carrey Majestic-era. Or Mel Gibson around when Lethal Weapon 4 came out. Will Ferrel's going down this path as well.

Time for some new comedy blood. And no, bullshit improv actors who keep breaking up on camera *coughFalloncough* don't count.

i liked it. it was a good human interest story.

it also helps that its a true story...and will smith did look a little liike the real chris gardner.

Weird, I thought the trailer represented the movie fine. I thought it was a great moive, but then Im a sucker for stories that involve under dogs working there way though to the top. Especialy when its based on a real life story.

Bravo for Chris for working through hardship and landing a job there.

Bravo for him to starting his own investment firm.

But I didn't care for the last screen of info that he sold part of his stake in that company for a few million $$$. :n:

he probably made multiples of that off his book and the movie.

this movie just seems to be a republician celebration of blind ambition and the american dream more then anyhting else.

Iduno, for the first time I think I teared up in a movie becuase of happiness and joy. Maybe it does seem like this was just an other movie of an underdog making it big and woop-de-da you were broke and now have millions... but what I think made this movie a little more special was unlike most ppl Chris could of stayed in a dead end job just to make ends meet and got lucky. Instead he took a huge chance and lost everything just for 1 chance to get a job that wasnt promised. And with all the suspence and random good/bad luck I honestly wasnt sure if he would get the job or not. So you can imagine how surpise and happy I was when he did in the end after him and his son had been at the very bottom.

Andrew Im with you on Will Smiths acting, by far his best. Not superb oscar winning, but very well done and deserving of a nomination.
