Denzel Washington plays John Q. Archibald, a hard-working family man who loses it when his son collapses at a Little League game. Neither the cardiac surgeon (James Woods) nor the cruel hospital admin (Anne Heche- aka fur trader) will put his child's name on the heart transplant recipient list since John Q's HMO insurance is hardly worth the $250,000 operation cost. John flips and takes matters into his own hands. Later in the flick a couple of good actors Robert Duvall and Ray Liotta (cops) try to bring things to a peaceful closing.
The movie is alright but lacks any real action. It's rated pg-13 for all audiences and everything for the most part comes across clean. It's a story with lots of hardships and a ton of teary scenes. It's worth renting but definitely not a $13.50 Silver City viewing.
There weren't any parts in the movie that made me think "How did they do that? or Lets see that again"
