Bowling for Columbine
i had missed out on the Michael Moore bandwagon, but after the awards won at Cannes and VIFF, i decided to check out Bowling for Columbine. i saw the 1:15pm sunday matinee and the theatre was packed. i managed to find a seat in the front row and was amazed at what i saw.
amercians are fucked up. the film isn't about guns or the Trenchcoat Mafia. it is about the fear which is possessed in the sad hearts of Americans. Moore reveals this fear through interviews with Marilyn Manson, Charlton Heston, Dick Clark, and John Nichols. the southpark guys even add in a cute cartoon about the history of fear in america. one of my favorite parts of the film was when Moore visits Canada to discover why there was only around 10% as many gun-murders here than in America. for the first time in probably forever, i had a patriotic feeling in my heart. i really do reccomend seeing Bowling for Columbine. it is currently playing at 5th Ave cinemas. |

That sounds really good and I definetely plan to see it!
Did you see "Roger and me"? It's also done by Michael Moore, I think it's about 10 years old. It's about the downsizing of huge american companies (especially General Motors), and the effects it has on small towns and communities in the US. It's really good and I definetely recommend it! |
